Tonight's show, The Newbridge may you be natorial debates was probably some of the most awesome radio I have heard in a long time. All those characters Wurster was switching into was just amazing.
Tom must have put alot of work into tonights show.
Great timing, great radio.
Can't wait for the podcast...
-
I'm just listening now to the archive. There aren't words for how awesome this show is and I'm only at Zachary Brimstead. The Newbridge Anthem was a great surprise.
-
Favorite moments:
--Tom's stutter of fear when introducing Tor Halversom
--AP Mike's "Define drinking."
JW deserves some sort of virtuoso award for last night - in addition to pulling off all those different voices, I liked the little touches like Zachary Brimstead's groans of discomfort whenever Hammerhead got a pit going. Seriously terrific stuff.
-
I loved Tom's earnest explanation of the dangers of "shiftage", and the importance of finding your balance buddy.
-
A true tour de force. Wonderful.
-
I'm just getting into last night's show and can't get the image of BirBigs taking it strong to the hoop out of my mind.

Really fine work. My wife and I were rapt. (My dog, too. Zachary Brimstead's "Wait, whuuuuuut?" caused her to sit straight up, and emit an outraged woof.)
-
Just listened again to the interaction w/ the second caller:
"I like it. This guy doesn't mince words."
"Hey, listen. I..."
"Listen? How dare you! HEAVE HO!"
-
my god, what an amazing show. from start to finish, pure gold.
i loved loved LOVED the use of the applause sound, whenever tom would get insulted or threatened, everyone would cheer. so funny.
mike was waaaayyy funnier than i thought he'd be. "define drinking" haha. and his new tattoo.

So much great stuff all the way through. I hope we get to hear a Newbridge Celebrity Roast in the same format some day.
Some of my favorite parts: the concerned citizen callers at the end self-identifying as Newbridge residents, the way Tom quickly abandoned the chumps following the debate on the radio for his new TV audience (my suggestion for the station's callsign was WHUT), Bob's description of his debate form as being "like a Dracula," the debut of the Newbridge Anthem and the news of the "Anthrax poisoning" issue.
While Roy had the crowd on his side, I was impressed by Marky's surprising in-depth knowledge of Newbridge and his bold plans to save the town via his amusement park and pizza vouchers. He was so well prepared, even I had to change my vote...but I didn't.

That would be awesome, especially as a premium. I just hope they invite Ken Rogers.
-
When I reviewed AotS for shovel.com I mentioned that JW "doesn't have the most versatile or easily-disguised voice". This was a stupid thing to say.
-
I loved how Mike, who was all set to be the only sensible candidate in the race, revealed himself to be as big a dirtbag as anyone else.
I also liked Tom's "joke" at the beginning, and the crowd silence. I know it's nothing new comedically, but Tom's reaction to the silence was really well done.
AND BARRY DWORKIN! Was this his first appearance since "The Gas Station Dogs" routine?
It was awesome. Best Show topped itself.
-
Tom called the best best show from the start. i knew it would be good, and he was right.
Brilliant. Amazing. Everything I ever wanted, and more.
-

That's Barrance, thankyouverymuch.
-
THIS IS AMAZING!
INCREDIBLE!!
TOP TOP TOP TOP TOP TOP TIPPITY TOP SHELF!
It's like Best Show Masterpiece Theater!
It's PHENOMENAL!
Congratulations!

Is this an acronym I'm not getting or did you switch Best Show with Attack of the Show?
(not being a jerk, just checking that I'm up on my acronyms)
And also, that was an incredible show. I loved hearing Tom crack up a bit when he realized they had left out a few candidates during the closing statements section.
-
"Come on...this pit is weak!"

I also like the fact that Newbridge has a national anthem.
-

Your dog is an excellent judge of people ... she knows that Mr. Brimstead is not a very savory character (unless, of course, she took a bite out of him ... in which case he'd be quite savory indeed).
Are dogs allowed to vote in the Newbridge election? Who is Dogmo endorsing?
Can fish vote? I'd like to hear Andy from Lake Newbridge weigh in.
-
Even Johnny had to laugh at that one.
But he didn't.
He just got madduh and madduh...
-
Everything about that was just amazing. It's definitely destined for repeated re-listening.
-
i've listened to it twice, consecutively, today.
-
I loved Tom's earnest explanation of the dangers of "shiftage", and the importance of finding your balance buddy.
A balance buddy is the funniest idea!
-
I loved it when Wurster would mistakenly use Brimstead's voice instead of PBR. Who knew the two were so easily confused in his mind?

I'm surprised he made as few mistakes as he did. I'd imagine it's tough to switch between so many characters. Tom covered the mistakes rather nicely, though.
-
theres something so hilarious yet so fitting about the fact that newbridge has an unexploded WWII era bomb in the little league field
-
I think after every "heave-ho" there should be a sound-effect of a dainty leather glove slapping against a face.

I think "Heave-ho!" followed by the sound of splashing water would work.
-
This one was a masterpiece.
-
Finally heard it yesterday on my drive through Fay. It kept me alive.
Best thing? The film incentives program that Pudge suggested? That's EXACTLY what I was working on this summer for the FL. Film Commission.
-
I’ve only been listening for about two months, but thanks to the archives and Omar’s recaps I had enough TBSOWFMU history to keep up. That was an amazing three hours. It was more ridiculous than I could have hoped for.
-
That was a seriously amazing show. I smile when I think about it!

Glad you survived ... Tina Fey should leave Florida alone.

Much more suitable.

A slap sound effect would work for "Good day, sir!" though.

Indeed much more suitable. Each caller is like a swimmer approaching the Clipper ship that is the Best Show and if you can't appease Captain Tom then back to the murky depths of the sea you shall go!

OK, I wrote a blog post about this week's show.

Hopefully it'll attract some more listeners, furthering the world domination thing.

the absolute best.
i'm still imagining roy's ancestors and their harrowing arrival at elvis island.
