The Guitar Man?  Sad news indeed.  Love his stuff.

Not a fan, but * I have hummed "we've got a long way to go and a short time to get there" on many car trips.

* Sorry, been waiting to use this after Tom's rant.

Not the Snowman! A sad day indeed.

I second PH's love for Amos Moses. I'm a fan of a lot of Reed's music, actually - great, catchy stuff that was often surprisingly funky and/or rocking for country music. The songs were often very funny but they had so much more going for them that I hesitate to even mention it lest he be thought of as a "novelty" singer.

RIP buddy.

RIP buddy.

His funny songs never felt like novelty to me... "Another Puff" and "She Got the Goldmine (I Got the Shaft)" are clever and un-grating.  RIP indeed.
