put an ad in Craig's list with your dad's cell phone number looking for one night fun, and spend the rest of the time explaining that it was a joke.

Andy,
I recommend the Underground/Old Seattle tour (as featured in an old episode of Scooby Doo).

It's not that long, but you get to see the old city, which the new city is just build right on top of. Cool.

AND you get to find out where a certain name for the turlet comes from.
There's a few new outdoor sculpture parks that are kind of cool, and the bottom floor of the Seattle Art Museum is free to walk through.
DON'T get suckered into the Experience Music or whatever the heck that terrible thing is called.
Make Frasier jokes all day.

Seconded. Best meatball sandwich I had ever and will ever have, and it cost $10 including tip.

take him to the Five Point Cafe and get drunk while doing your laundry.

I'm really bad at this kind of thing, but I feel I must at least try to rep Seattle, so give me a little bit. I'll think about it, and get back to you shortly.
For now, thanks for the heads up on Salumi you guys, that restaurant sounds amazing and I never knew it existed!

Me too. My idea is usually to crawl into the nearest place you can get a beer. I'm usually one to just "wing it" anyway.
Incidentally, my own father just flew in (to Seattle) and I am spending the day with him tomorrow, so I'm in the same situation!

avoid the junkies, eat sushi.
that's what i did, at least.

There are a lot of Seattle FOT, huh?

PS - I am one of the lucky few to go inside the troll while it was still under construction.

Ok, I'll give it a shot.
Spend part of the day on the waterfront -

then go here and check this out -

and while there, have lunch here (the chowder is good, and a friend of mine created some of the dishes on their menu) -

You can also have a nice sushi here -

For nightlife, I like the Fremont area (because I live right up the street) -

If you want to see a show, grab a copy of The Stranger and take your pick.

Have a good time in Seattle!

Ugh, are those geoducks on that cover of the Stranger?? Those things are totally tubular as hell.
Anyway, took the folks down to the Market for lunch, hit the underground tour and kicked around downtown for awhile. Hitting the aquarium tomorrow. I'm betting they have geoducks there. :o
-
Did you have any of the local peaches at the market? Fucking unbelievable.
Thanks for the advice, everyone. We ended up going to the markets, a couple of the piers and did the Underground Tour. Had a great time, the weather has been ridiculous, and everyone has been really cool. When it comes time for more grad school, UW just moved way up my list.
