guess what? the new metallica album kicks a million tons of ass. it sounds like a mix of justice and the black album. there's some sick, classic riffs. they've even got a 10 minute instrumental again. so fucking sweet. it's almost like the last 15 years didn't happen.
i talked to the mexican metal head at the 711 yesterday. the second i mentioned metallica, he said 'they're dead to me.' but i was like, no way. just give this new album a listen. it must might change your mind about how gay metallica's been lately. and i'd say the same thing to anyone else on the forum who likes music that kicks ass.
you can stream the whole damn thing on their site... http://www.metallica.com/index.asp?item=601231
axl should take a page out of metallica's book. they've managed to make a kick ass album that doesn't sound too techno and trendy.

If only Rick Rubin had locked Mr. Ulrich out of the studio and hired Dave Lombardo to do the drums! As Raad_Man so eloquently stated, the band has definitely toned down the homoerotic tendencies that ran wild over the last three records. The instrumental is kind of a snooze, though. The best track is "All Nightmare Long."

I never could get into them, that dudes voice is annoying to me.
I'll tell you a metal album I like Fear Factory's first one
Santa Maria! that's a hard ass album, back to front
and Maynard from Tool has a pretty good voice
I'm not even sure you can put Tool in the same category though

I like the use of the definite article "the" there. Like we all know this Mexican metal head.
From what I've heard so far, the music is definitely a return to quality. BUT, James Hetfield's voice has been completely scrubbed with sound editing software. He sounds like Cher in "Do You Believe in Life After Love." I cannot brook that. At all.

A comparison to The Black Album for an album that you're claiming to be good is confusing to me. Please clarify.

Uh-oh, they might still be gay! At least I know what they're going to be playing at all the good parties this year!

Yeah, I think I saw Metallica at the Pride parade this year. Hooray for Metallica!
