Title: Never again!
Post by: erika on September 24, 2008, 01:00:49 PM
The night I graduated from art school I went to a party with my boyfriend at the time and a few of his friends. At this point in my life I drank even more rarely than I do now, but I decided since it was MY graduation night, I wanted to have a few.

I asked my boyfriend, who always drank, if he would be the designated driver. He reluctantly said yes. Then the party he changed his mind and passed the duties to one of his friends.

On the ride home, we turned onto the [empty, traffic-free] highway and I realized something was very wrong. I looked around me and noticed to my utter horror that we were riding on the wrong side of a four lane highway. I calmly (??) pointed this out to my idiot ex boyfriend and his "sober" friend and we got off before we were killed or pulled over.

It turns out my boyfriend's friend was completely drunk, and had almost killed me soon after my 20th birthday. Delightful. Even when I think about it now it makes me queasy.

NEVER AGAIN did I trust my boyfriend (or anyone else in Pittsburgh) to be the designated driver. I ended up basically not drinking for the next 5 years.

You wouldn't have this problem if you drank in the shower. Sheesh.

My never again is going out to Brunch to places that specialize in Brunch.

Inevitably I have to get up earlier than I want to make sure to get there so I can wait an hour eat. I will just make my own pancakes.

Driving in Pittsburgh was an adventure when I was sober.  But maybe that's largely because I was a visitor.

Jumping off a castle ruin wall and landing on both my feet at an unfortunate angle. Distance from top of wall to ground: probably about 15 feet. As I landed, I heard a cracking sound, and then I blacked out (from the pain) for a split second, then got up and walked one mile to my friend's house and fell asleep. The next day I literally fell out of bed as I got up - my feet were blue and bloated. Couldn't stand up.

Was there alcohol involved? How dare you.

Telling a pretty girl that I'm gay just because I'm too nervous to dance with her ... Never again!

Eat applesauce.  When I was like 8, I had to take 2 pills 4 times a day and I hadn't quite mastered the swallowing pills with water thing.  So, I took them with applesauce.  8 weeks later, I vowed I'd never applesauce again...

Buying a 12-pack of Steel Reserve. I did not at any point drink enough of the stuff to regret it in the morning, but that is because I could hardly stomach the taste of a single can's worth. I only bought it because some friends were coming over to watch some goofy-ass videos and I was told that it would be fun to get terrible cheap beer that would be easy to get hammered off of. I thought aforementioned friends would do me the favor of drinking more than three cans of the stuff. A month later and I still haven't finished it off.

Never again ...
...going to Forever 21 - lines are insane & the clothes aren't worth it (better patterns, comparable prices and more sizes at H&M)
...asking a boy out on a date - not even to Sadie Hawkins dance.
...getting iced coffee from Au Bon Pain - it tastes like sour milk before you even put the milk in.
...buying a busted item off the sale rack at Anthropologie thinking I can "make it work" - I can't, and it'll just sit in my closet till the season changes, looking like the emptiest $39.99 ever spent.

Ah, old 211. We used to call it dragon piss, it's awful. I used to drink that by the 22oz in my 20's, and I shouldn't even be alive today.

The best part, is on the side of the label it boasts about being a "triple export" beer - which I always just took to mean it got kicked out of the country twice before landing in my local 7-11.

That's my never again. No beer that's sold primarily in 40 ounce bottles shall ever grace my lips again.

I drank a Mickey's "hand grenade" the other day.  Okay, I drank three.  Wasn't that bad.  Definitely felt goofy.  Malt liquor, within moderation, is Effective and fun if you're gonna play guitar in a band.
