Hi guys,
I don't know what this means exactly, but I posted a list of should-be important 70s albums here
http://gaughin.edublogs.org/2008/10/01/the-virgin-encyclopedia-of-70s-music-continued/ (http://gaughin.edublogs.org/2008/10/01/the-virgin-encyclopedia-of-70s-music-continued/)
would love to have you.
Thanks

I want a list of moron seventies music.

There's a good bit of country on there. Are you re-assessing?

Trying, though it may not be taking

Missing Joy Division, also Captain Beefheart.

So am I right in seeing this as a list of albums to check out or give another chance, rather than a list of cornerstone albums? 'Cause I'm not seeing any T. Rex or Ramones (I can see John gettin' maddah... and maddah... and maddah...). I listened to all of Lou Reed's 70s output last Summer, and there's a lot there that I need to give a second listen to (although I've been completely sold on Transformer for a few years now).

What? No Bee Gees? What gives?
Actually know most of the stuff on the list, probably won't get to the country stuff though. I do like Johnny Cash, but that's about it for country.

I've confused people.
I take it all back. Don't listen to any of those albums.

I think we can all agree that the '70s was the best era for pop music ever.

Not even just pop music ~ punk, heavy metal, post punk, no wave, industrial, etc. Better than half the genres experiencing major popularity in the past decade plus had major roots directly in the 70s.

Also funk. (Greasy and otherwise.)

I hated most music in the seventies till punk came along. You try living through the advent of disco without crying. I dare you.

I can relate to Dave's uneasy relationship w/ country music. I'm not from the South, but Indiana may as well be. People there (many) suffer from a phobia of being confused with the stereotypical hick which provokes knee-jerk declarations of 'loving all music except country'. After discovering bluegrass wasn't so bad and witnessing general widespread respect for Johnny Cash's work I realized it was kind of dum to dismiss all country music that way, although I'm not a born-again country fanatic, either.

Did you weep openly when CBGB's closed?

The event left me unmoved.

OMG - I totally agree with Fido's worst song ever pick! I can't believe this will be in my brain again! ARRGGGGHHHH!
