Title: How To Deal With Copy Protect On A VCR/DVD Recorder.

Hello Americans -

I am looking to dump the plentiful videotapes I have accumulated over the years onto my Sony RDR-VX530 VCR/DVD Recorder. Certain tapes won't copy due to copy protection restrictions. Does anyone have any advice on how to circumvent this situation? Any tricks of the trade?

I bought this thing, it works fine. Sometimes the video will look distorted at first, but you just have to play with it for a few seconds untill it snaps out of it. Another downside: When you are playing it and you want to fast forward or rewind, the screen goes black, so if you're just searching for a specific moment you have to keep hitting play to see if you've passed it what.

I'm sure theres better devices out there, but this is an easy-to-find, relatively cheap one. I found this one at my local Best Buy.

that you're welcome to since I don't use it anymore. I think you might have to play the tape off a separate VHS machine, run the signal through the Copymaster, and then into your DVD recorder. Also, that webpage claims there may be compatibility issues with Sony machines. But it's yours if you want to try it out.
