Title: A New Heave-Ho
Post by: jake8jazz on October 19, 2008, 01:44:18 AM
I realize that Tom must be tired of GOMP, but I'm sure you're all with me when I say it's still pretty damn funny.  Can we just get a brainstorming session on another alternative to heave-ho?  Please?!?!?!

How about he just plays a sound bite of that song that goes "Enough is enough is enough is enough!"

How about I give you a call sometime, Steve?

I'm waiting   ;D

Heave ho is great! 'Get off my phone' was becoming like 'git 'er done', stand-ups in Newbridge routinely got heckled with Tom's catchphrase through the fog of pepper spray, Old Spice and beer spit. He's doing those slobs a favour.

I like it, it's a natural progression. And clearly hauntingly effective, given this thread.

Much like "Get Bent":Andrew W.K., "Good Day Sir" and others, "Heave Ho" will eventually go by the wayside and change back into GOMP.

I hope....

Heave-Ho still reminds me of seven little guys going off to work in a stone pit.

"Heave" and "hi" are so easily confused, it's true.

I think a simple "OUT" would suffice.

How about "Your Out"

Although I like Heave Ho.

"I love you."

I like to end phone conversations with "alright, I love you" because you can practically hear the question mark coming out of their head as they are hanging up. They are positive that they didn't just hear me say "I love you."

I am, of course, judicious on who I use it on.

If you sing the song once with "heave" instead of "hi" you will see what I mean

i do this.  it works especially well for ending telemarketing/collection calls and heated arguments over the phone.

"Get Off My Phone" was coined by some other old radio guy, so maybe Tom just  decided to make his own original.

I actually enjoy heave-ho.  The first time Tom actually heaved a caller ho is one of the funniest moments of the past few shows.  As things stand now, I think a disgusted "Heave-Ho!" cannot be upgraded.  Unless you add the thunk and splash of walking the plank.

I don't know if anybody has watched Hulk Hogan's Celebrity Championship Wrestling on CMT (I'm not sure why you would, I only did because I hate myself), but his extremely clunky catchphrase to eliminate contestants is, "You're a jabroni! Get out of my ring!" TRUE STORY!

who are the celebrities on this show? i bet it's no 'hulk hogan 180'.
also, kudos for bringing back 'jabroni'.

I like heave ho because it makes me feel like I am sailing on the sea of radio watching Muppet Treasure Island

It's mainly recycled reality show jerks like Dustin Diamond, Danny Bonaduce, and Todd Bridges. Frank Stallone is on it too, which I feel is a nice touch.
