Title: It's the Paul F. Tompkins-est Week Ever!
Post by: Pete Velcro on October 21, 2008, 08:29:26 AM
I love when Paul F. Tompkins comes on, because he is a true connoisseur of The Best Show.

He's the Ernie Banks--the baseball player, who is quoted as saying "Let's play two!", reffering to games of baseball--of The Best Show.

PFT appeared at UCB theater in NYC this past Thursday as a guest in the show "All Jew Revue." He didn't do his stand up routine. He just sat in a chair as he was interviewed by two Jewish women. They asked him all kinds of questions like when he was going to marry his girlfriend already and about his show Best Week Ever. It was a funny show although it kind of reminded me of Obsessed with Jackie Clark and Julie Klausner.

That show was UNBELIEVABLE. PFT was great in it, and the All Jew Revue is on my "Will See No Matter Who the Guests Are" list.

MANY things were revealed about PFT. Including use of some sort of "device"?! That part was just gross.

Tonight John Hodgman caught himself speaking like PFT on several occasions and said that he's pretty much the greatest person ever.

Let's just say I'm very excited for Hodgman's Best Show appearance.

pretty good episode... Loved it when Paul did the disgusted "yeech" expression after the 'Living With The Wolfman' Clip.

John Hodgman can read the phone book and I'm in heaven.

Is it just me, or does PFT have kind of a Pacino thing going on in this picture?

Paul F. Tompkins KILLED IT, as did Doug Benson and Rob Huebel.
I'm officially on board with this show.

You don't need to, whole episodes of Best Week Ever are on the show's daily podcast feed in iTunes.

what does everyone think of the new best week ever?

i really like doug benson's segments so far.  paul is great, but you can tell he didn't write what he's saying a lot of the time.

i thought it was really funny that the very first episodes had paul meeting two of tom's favorite people: kevin smith and bruce campbell.  (i love bruce campbell btw, and thought he was funny on the show).

you'd think paul would have mentioned on his guest spot the other week that kevin smith was gonna be in the very first episode of the new bwe.  i'm pretty sure he even ended up doing some filth mouth "bit" (if you wanna call it that) about sexual positions or something.

I a/b'd the old format with the new format, to feel the difference because I've never watched this show before - the old format was really cold and annoying, and the new format was warm and fun.

Change! Rules. Go PFT!

Also there is a pattern here:

"The Best Show on WFMU"

"The Best Week Ever"

See? Both start with the words "The Best". Is that weird or what?

I just bought P.F.T.'s stand-up comedy album which made me want to buy more comedy albums and cheered me up immensely.  Also, Paul F. Tomkins makes me want to use better vocabulary words.  P.F.T. is the other "Best" in my life.

I was very pleased with PFT's "this week's 'istoric development" on last night's show.  The pundits' near-universal adoption of "an 'istoric" has been driving me nuts.  It's nice to know I'm not alone.

(Aside:  Mika Brzezinski says "ek cetera."  A woman who makes fun of "nu-cu-lar" should know better.)

Did anyone catch PFT using the word "turlet" on BWE back on 9/22 (episode 1502)?  Probably really old news but I didn't see it until yesterday.

The Best Year Ever special was fantastic.  Even Chuck Nice was killing me, though I'm guessing someone else wrote the line, "Please pack your knives, you will not be America's Next Top Model."

AND did anyone catch the [likely] shout-out to Tom?

"Kids!  What is wrong with these kids today!"

A-maz-ing! I am sick with a chest cold, so laughing at this episode almost literally killed me. It's a perfect example of how BWE is truly hitting its stride overall.
