I'd like to try my hand at creating something for the video/visual contest, but I don't have any experience with animation. I can get around in iMovie OK, but not sure how I could move it beyond rapidly changing static images.
I know that it's a contest and that some folks don't want to reveal their trade secrets, but I'd appreciate any links to useful resources or tutorials in this area.
thanks

I would say, Jasc Paint Shop Pro/ Animation Shop is a good bundle to work with if you are starting out with digital graphics/ animation. I think it might be PC only, unfortunately. There are a few tutorials here to help get you started:

I have a *cough* "Trial" version that I will post a link to later on if anyone if interested in trying it out.

Also, I found this storyboarding software that might come in handy. It's freeware for windows & mac. The website looks like it's got some decent tutorials as well about things like composing a shot. might be worth checking out.
