Title: Clash Tribute Night
Post by: Amplituden on November 13, 2008, 02:51:19 PM
Hey.

My band was asked to play a Clash tribute night.

What three songs should we play, I can't decide.

Help me out!

You should play obscure ones to educate your audience.

- Rock the Casbah
- I Fought the Law
- Should I Stay or Should I go

I'm pretty sure "I fought the law" was actually a Tom Petty song.

It's about time New Jersey's premier blues rock band (http://bestshowvault.blogspot.com/2007_05_14_archive.html) got some recognition.

I say play New Daddy Blues or London's Still Burning (With Blues)

Now that I think about it, maybe you should just do "The Magnificent Seven" three times in a row.

Blues Patrol

Gregory beat me, I was going to suggest New Daddy Blues also.

You're not talking about the 80s Clash, are you?

Just play a medley of all the Cut the Crap songs.

But really, the most under appreciated Clash song is "Stay Free."

Smartass answer:

"Police on My Back"
"Brand New Cadillac"
"Police and Thieves"

Non-smartass answer:
"The Call-Up"
"I'm Not Down"
"Lose This Skin" (as an aside, I have always wanted to hear a cover of this done by someone with a non-weird singing voice)

Well yeah! It's just a smartass answer because all of those are actually covers that a lot of people think the Clash wrote.

That one plus Janie Jones plus Garageland = Clash tribute gold!
