I think the typical twitter usage involves a mild interest followed by several months of no activity at all followed by (sometimes) a more committed return and acceptance of twitter Kool-Aid.  At any rate, have fun and let us know how it goes.  Also, steer clear of that scobleizer dude.

Already setting in for me.  I am still not seeing how this provides anything above and beyond Facebook updates.  Unless you are a Netanyahu stalker and want to know what he is doing *right now* - and assuming he would not invite you to be a Facebook friend - what is the bloody point?
Title: Re: Follow Scharpling On Twitter!

I suppose that's they key - people can follow you but you don't have to follow them (or be "friends" with them). I'm not sure how long I'll keep it up - it certainly doesn't replace FB in any way - but for now it's kinda fun.

Twitter lets you check on people without friending them, like Martin said.  But I see it more as a way for wiseguys to broadcast one-liners than as an actual means for keeping track of what people are up to, which no one cares about.

Tom had better get working on getting that book deal frenzy started. The world's first Twitter novel, written by someone who actually has talent?! There's going to be a bidding war, I tell you. Hopefully Twitter doesn't have some sort of fine print that says anything you send through their website is their property.

If the 'Stuff White People Like' guy can get a book deal, anything is possible.  This may be what pushes Tom over the top to super-stardom and obscene riches.

Tom's worried it (Fuel Dump) is flopping .
I don't think so.
However, I thought we'd get a sentence a day - he may be giving us more than we need or can handle.

Title: Re: Follow Scharpling On Twitter!

One sentence a day?! One sentence AT A TIME!

I don't want to mess up anybody's tweeting. I will figure out a way to distribute it at a more digestible pace if it's throwing anybody.

But one sentence a day? We're gonna be doing this for a ten years!

Tom.

And imagine the comments jerks would leave poor Tom when the sentence of the day was "Whatever." Daily anticipation would lead to weird overanalyzation of every sentence, rather than allowing each one to be what it needs to be.

(I'm defending a decision that is not in jeopardy of changing in any way.)

I like being able to check twitter whenever I'm at a computer and see what friends and favorites are doing.  But is anyone else finding that people are becoming more boring to hang out with because they're always on twitter?

By that I mean, they're on twitter on their phone while you're sitting there trying to enjoy a meal or a movie with them.  Disconnect for a little while, sheesh!
