Title: Blues Music
Post by: kray on December 09, 2008, 08:53:10 PM
Dear Tom,

I heard you knock blues music a couple of months ago. I meant to ask, "what is up with that?"

Maybe you were more specific on another episode i missed. maybe you are referring to contemporary blues artists who have messed it all up, guys like john mayall or something.

But how can you hate on blues music, the origin of all the music that you talk so highly of on your shows. without blues music you def won't have the rolling stones. you won't even have ted leo or lil wayne. we'd all be listening to cellos still probably. didn't know you loved the cello so much tom.

tommy johnson, kid bailey, charlie patton, etc, these guys made it all possible, i will not let you slander them.

I think Tom was referring to the group, "Blues-hammer."

Not to mention Boss Jon Spencer and the Blues Hog explosion.

Don't be hatin' on the cello! My dad plays cello! Why are you talking trash about my dad? How dare you!

I might be wrong, but I feel like Tom has specifically talked about his dislike for "the blues" which I think is pretty different from "blues music"

there's a phone call on the "just farr a laugh" comp that functions as a perfect criticism of much that is wrong with "the blues."

Yea, but who gives a shit? We also might not have The Best Show without Fibber McGee and Molly but it doesn't make that shit listenable.

Blues is boring. Sure, it was "important," but I don't listen to music for a history lesson.
