Title: Excellent Best Show Guest; Danny Mcbride.
Post by: Jack from Arkansas on December 13, 2008, 05:48:48 PM
Dear Tom,
I've been thinking that Danny Mcbride would be a great guest on your show.  He was a scene stealer in Hot Rod, Pineapple Express, Superbad and Tropic Thunder.  His film, The Foot Fist Way, was so funny and solidly executed.  Also, I saw on IMDB that he helped work on David Wain's excellent George Washington movie.
I believe you guys would hit it off very well.  Is there any way he could be contacted to be a guest on your show?  I think that night would go down in classic Best Show history
                                                             With the utmost respect,
                                                              Jack

David Wain's excellent George Washington movie.

No wonder it was so hilarious.

But yes, McBride is awesome. His North Carolina brother did the Show proud this very week.

Dear Tom,
While I think Danny Mcbride is funny, I made a mistake suggesting some hot shot star to come to the studio. My logic was that I love Tom.  And Danny Mcbride is funny in some movies.  So therefore, these guys might enjoy hanging out.
Listening to The Best Show is great because of Tom.  Tom is great with the guests but when he's just doing his own thing it is so perfect.  So please disregard my suggestion.  Tom with a topic and some good calls is my favorite part of the week.
                                                  Sincerely, Jack

Dear Tom,

David Keith and Keith David in studio.

Seriously.

No, not seriously

I might be able to swing David Keith for you, though. He mostly hangs out on street corners here in town asking passersby if they know him, and muttering stuff about Johnny Knoxville. Since that Keith Whitley biopic fell through (which the world was clearly clamoring for), he seems to have lost his purpose.

I don't think I get Danny McBride. I just don't see the appeal. Not knocking the people who do like him though. Just voicing my opinion. Can somebody point me in a direction that might change my viewpoint?

I saw the pilot for East Bound and Down (the upcoming HBO comedy starring him and recent Best Show guest Andy Daly) and he/it were really amazing. I never got what was so special about him until that.

William Henry Harrison:  Greatest president ever.  He didn't do anything wrong.

I liked Foot Fist Way a lot even though it does lose some steam along the way.

The East Bound and Down pilot is awesome and I really expect great things from that show.

I think he could be a great guest

1. The Foot Fist Way
2. THE deleted scene from All The Real Girls
3. Pineapple Express

McBride is a total knockout. I'm dying to see East Bound and Down soon enough. Where are you folks finding the pilot episode?

BTW, there's another fellow who's sort of mixed up in the David Gordon Green camp who deserves some for-real exposure--Robert Longstreet. He had two amazing performances in 2007 with The Great World of Sound (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0826547/) and Low and Behold (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0910917/) (both both produced by Green). I highly, highly recommend both pics. Magnolia Pictures put out GWOS on home video, but Low and Behold is not out yet.

That said, here's a fantastic (and very potty-mouthed) clip of Longstreet in the almost-great Dingalingless (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0365671/).

Is this the same Danny McBride that worked on all the Underworld movies?
