Dear Tom,
Do you like REO Speedwagon? I wish I didn't, but I secretly do. Would you be so kind as to play one of their rotten hits at the beginning of your show next week? That would really be great!
Sincerely,
Julie

OREO Speed Dealer? Have they had a song on the radio that I might have heard?

There actually was a band called REO Speedealer (http://www.last.fm/music/Speedealer). They had to drop the 'REO' part after REO Speedwagon's lawyer called them up.

I am not a huge REO Speedwagon fan.
You can play them at home from 8:04-8:15 and pretend that it's me playing them!
Trying to find a solution here -
Tom.

I always felt that REO SW were a little bit of a bait and switch. Their name and logo imply something along the scale of a Deep Purple in heavy duty rock, but then you drop the needle and basically get a watered down Kansas.

I played basketball with those guys, on this great 8-foot goal. It's a long story. It happened in the summer of 1982, the same year I met Imelda Marcos, Peter Max, Walter Cronkite, Red Skelton, and Dave "Please come to Boston" Loggins.
I did not tell them that I hated their "new" singer (he had turned them into hits, and had been in the band, I would think, 3 or 4 years at that point.) They were really great guys, though. The thing that impressed me most about them was that they were these big family guys, and what all of them wanted most was to use the phone to call home.
For the record, they probably were closer to the Deep Purple model before pretty boy joined and turned them into MTV stars.

Similar to Journey, then.

When I was younger, I got REM and REO Speedwagon confused.
And by when I was younger, I mean up until I saw this post. :(
