Has it been discussed here as of yet?
JCVD was seriously one of the most insane things I have ever seen. I was worried that it would be too self-aware, that the whole thing would be poking fun itself in uncomfortable ways like the later chapters of Trapped in the Closet. Instead, it was the Hindenburg of bad movies. At one point he breaks down the fourth wall, and is literally risen above the scene while talking to the audience about his life and "spouting off" on the state of Hollywood and the "so-called media" [quotes his] and eventually breaks down into actor-tears. The egomania on display here is sweet, beautiful, music.

I have not seen it but I would like to. This is one of those peculiar times when two films about the same thing are released around the same time, and by that I mean JCVD and Bruce Campbell's My My Name Is Bruce. The last time this happened most obviously was when The Prestige and The Illusionist came out. What's the deal?

just titling it JCVD is enough in the egomania dept for me.

There was a time when I saw every Jean-Claude Van Damme movie in the cinema. Although that time ended long ago, I still feel I have a vested interest in the man and his work. But for all that, I still can't convince myself to shell out $12 to see this thing.

Is this the movie where he kicks people?

JCVD backlash! Catch it!

A friend of mine works at an architecture firm which was sued by JCVD a couple of years ago over a condo renovation they designed for him. I can't get into any detail, but some revelations about his behavior toward members of the firm over the course of the project were sufficiently embarrassing that he dropped the case.

Yeah, there was really nasty - and totally credible - gossip about him circulating in Toronto when he used to shoot movies there all the time.
