That's right, everybody. After a looooong layoff, I have gotten my act together and knocked out the next James Bond review - DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER.
You can go to www.scharplingandwurster.com to check it out!
And spread the word!
Tom.

Top Notch!!!

It's a
Christmas Hanukkah miracle.

Wow, Plenty O'toole has to be one of the better looking "Bond girls".
-

Mr. Wint is played by Bruce Glover, who really is Crispin's father. Nicely spotted!

You had me at Phil Hellmuth's boner.

Thank you Tom. A superior review of an inferior Bond film. What a disappointment this movie was when it came out. Even as a high school freshman, I felt this movie was weak. So much for the return of Connery. I couldn't wait for Diamond Are Forever to come out.
This movie put Bond on the same level of goofiness as Dean Martin's Matt Helm. And with Roger Moore, the worst was yet to come.

Just started reading it RIGHT NOW, and the part about pulling a sandwich out of the tuxedo made me laugh hard enough to stop reading the review, come to this web site, and say so.
-
A great read, Tom, as always.
I also must compliment you on your decision to put in pictures of the sexy Bond ladies.
I'm totally with you on Plenty O'Toole. Holy cow.

Walter Becker, international hitman.
-
I salute you, sir.
And, for the slog through the godawful Roger Moore flicks that you are soon to undertake, I also weep for you.
-

Absolutely. That made me laugh so hard I had to make it my signature, even if it's a bit "Tommy Blue".
-
DAF was the turning point in the series. The films went from being tight thrillers with just the right amount of humor, to slapstick comedies with self parody thrown in. There is nothing worse than self parody.
From this point on there are no great Bond movies anymore. (I like On Her Majesties Secret Service. It is a flawed but still great Bond adventure) All of the films after and including this had some good moments, but none were never up to the standards set by Goldfinger or Thunderball.

My favorite part of the stupid-looking two-wheel stunt in the unidentifiable muscle car was the fact that it changed which two wheels it was on somewhere between the entrance and the exit of the alley. I think they realized this way too late and tried to fix it in post, which involved tilting the camera in an attempt to dupe people into thinking it went from driving on the right wheels to leveling out, then driving on the left wheels. So dumb.

That was a 1971 Mustang Mach 1. One of Detroit's finest.

Yeah, I was just goofing on Tom's "there is nowhere on the internet I can look up what car this is" remark. I am wondering how many people sent Tom links to the Internet Movie Cars Database (imcdb.org) after that.
-
the whole thing had me laughing, but i found Tom's take on "the best or worst job on earth" very amusing.

Very top shelf hahah keep em coming!
