Title: Traveling to New York without going to Manhattan....
Post by: Andy on January 08, 2007, 10:56:21 PM
My wife is going to New York City for a conference and I get to tag along.  I'll have at least 4 days (all day long) to do whatever I want instead of the usual shopping and crap that my wife wants to do.  I'd like to see some of the other burroughs.  What can you New Yorkers recommend?

You should check out Prospect Park.  It's pretty.

To see spectacular views of the NYC skyline go to:
1) Hoboken, NJ
2) The Promenade in Brooklyn Heights
3) Staten Island Ferry - it's FREE!

Interesting stuff to do:
1) Take a walk on the Brooklyn Bridge.
2) Visit Coney Island
3) Visit The Cloister's Museum to see the collection of art and architecture from medieval Europe.
4) Prospect Park in Brooklyn - you can go horseback riding there.

Hey, I should go to that, but I'm not going to because I'm a lousy slacker.

DiFaras pizza in Brooklyn, ferry to  Staten Island (to eat more pizza), amazing Thai food in Sunnyside and Elmhurst Queens followed by PS 1 and the 5 Pointz grafitti place and the Museum of the Moving Image.  Walk the Brooklyn Bridge to the Chocolate Factory in Brooklyn Heights for hot cocoa.

I'm all for a meet up!

Not sure what my schedule is like but drinks would be fun, Manhattan somewhere?

I'm staying at the Hudson which apparently has a ridiculously fancy bar.
