Title: George Meyer's Letterman screenplay
Post by: Snuggalo on January 20, 2009, 04:58:10 PM
Hey Tom,
As far as I know, the semi-legendary unproduced screenplay George Meyer wrote for David Letterman is not available to mere mortals.  I was wondering whether you, with your bigtime Hollywood connections, have ever had a chance to read this, and if so, does it live up to its myth as the funniest thing ever written?

I've always wanted to read this, but too lazy to beg/search for a copy online - and also I don't work for the Hollywoods.

I don't know much about it beyond what's in this New Yorker profile from 2000: http://tinyurl.com/ywa3j

I'm pretty sure the writer lifted the "surly authoritarian ... dreamy dumbbell" line from a TV Guide article on "The Simpsons" that ran the year before (no, I'm not proud to know that).
