You probably knew him as Lux Interior.
There is a big fat rumor going around that he died over the weekend. If this is true, it's a total drag that we're just barely hearing about it on Wednesday and he didn't get his Best Show due tribute.
I love the Cramps. I am sad.
-
What rumor-mill are you subscribed too, Hug?
They said the same thing about Bryan Gregory way back in the 70s.
He's fine. Just changed his name to Kid Congo.
-
I really think this one's true, port.
-
I'm going to have to come down on the side of believing this is just a rumor.
-
I'm an idiot. This can't be true. I'm banning myself from the board for the rest of the day. I'm sorry.
-
Unfortunately, it is true. http://www.brooklynvegan.com/archives/2009/02/lux_interior_th.html

I wasn't buying it when it was all a bunch of sites all referencing one single site, but now Billboard is reporting it independently, so I guess it's probably true...
It's a shame. He was an AMAZING frontman.
-
Billboard is running it, too.
Sad. I was just listening to the Cramps last week, and I have a copy of Urgh! A Music War I was going to watch today.
He wore some scandalous pants.
-
Bummer. I'm glad I took the opportunity to see the Cramps in the early 90s.
Reading the Brooklyn Vegan writeup ... oh geeze, did he really go out the same way as the INXS guy?

Jeepers Creepers. Being right never felt so wrong.

Songs the Lord Taught Us is one of my favorite albums :(

This makes me really sad. I'm a big fan, and not that it really matters, but I heard he was a super-nice guy in real life. RIP.
The Brooklyn Vegan article is the only one I've read that mentions the scandalous alleged cause of death. The Billboard article just says he had a heart condition.
Regardless of what happened, I don't want to besmirch the dead.
-
I think the worst thing people can do is to assign shame to whatever he was doing. If that is how he died, if that was his thing, so be it. Same with Michael Hutchence. It's not like he died fondling children or something.
I want so bad to make a Spike joke, but I can't bring myself to do it.

Wikipedia is saying "Preexisting heart condition" and that he died at "4:30 AM".
At any rate, he's gone.
He made a lot A LOT of people very, very happy. That's a good life, right there.
Married for 37 years, too. Wow.
My best to his family.
RIP
-
Yeah, RIP. I also heard he was super-nice. And a former employee of the Strand Bookstore, which means that place had nice employees at one time.

Heck yeah, even at age 50+ this guy could get on stage and blow away kids half his age.
You'd think the big bad world of music would be full of people who could cast a spell on an audience like he could, but they're surprisingly rare.
-
Bummer.
-
Seeing the Garbage Man video on the UHF video station when I was a pre teen is probably the single most important moment in my life as a music fan. Sad sad sad.

I'm really sorry to hear about this, but stay off the junk, kids. Even if you manage to kick, your heart's going to be a wreck for the rest of your life.
He had a great life and left behind an amazing body of work. He'll be missed.
-
there's nothing i can say that hasnt been said, but im glad i had the opportunity to listen to the cramps when i had the closing shift during those greasy, fast food teenage years.

Louie, louie, louie, lou-i, the bird's the word and do you know why?
Because Lux said so. Heartbreaking.
