i'm guessing his daugher Laurie is probably in middle school right about now, right?

He's probably in pieces in the crawlspace right now.

His kid is probably out of Little League by now. He probably visited Disneyland sometime last year. He hasn't had a lot to cheer about sports-wise in the last year, but he's getting psyched about the Lakers now. He goes out to eat at Chili's or the Olive Garden once in a while, but not too often.

He might have had a hard time deciding who to vote for in the election, and he maybe ended up voting for Obama. He probably voted Yes on 8, but I'm guessing he really harbors no ill will toward the gays. Hopefully, he is still living in his home in Hesperia or Victorville or or Castro Valley or wherever, and with any luck, is still gainfully employed. I'm guessing the world isn't looking too bright to Clem right about now, a sentiment I share with him.

I imagine Clem as a third constant in life; There's Death, Taxes and Clem.

I've clearly missed something.  Who is Clem and where can I hear his call?

P.S.  I expect a barrage of "Crack a ... much?" insults.  And I will probably get a kick out of each and every one of them.

one time about 6 years ago Bryce didn't show up after Tom's show, so Tom did a huge 6 hour marathon show. the second half of the show he kept calling up pay phones to see what random people he could call up. he called some guy in Texas named Clem and ended up talking to him (and his daughter) for like 2 hours straight. it was one of the most beautiful things that's ever been broadcast on radio.

and then OCDJ decided to be a wiseass and not show up for his show at 2AM, for about 10 minutes.

Clem lived in California, but the rest is correct. It was great radio.

The end, where Tom's horror at being accidentally disconnected turns into hysterical laughter, is great.

That sounds hilarious.  I'll have to find that in the Archives.  I do remember listening to an old episode where Tom kept begging Bryce to call in, but I listened to that many many many long months ago.

the second clem call is also a peach.

i'm guessing clem is probably holding down 3-4 jobs nowadays.
