Title: Mirth, Music & Mayhem Marathon Premium
Post by: spacepope on February 17, 2009, 04:07:26 PM
I got my WFMU marathon pledge sheet with this description for the Best Show premium:

The Best Show presents: Mirth, Music & Mayhem, a premium in three acts: an all new Scharpling & Wurster set! An amazing all-star tribute to Ram! And a few secrets guaranteed to amaze!

An amazing all-star tribute to Ram!

I assume that's the Paul & Linda McCartney album, not the guy who briefly worked at Mike's supermarket.

Uh, no, Chris - it's obviously a celebration of everyone's favorite kind of computer memory.

I heard that ever since that movie came out, potato salad sales are THROUGH THE ROOF. Also, they still haven't cleaned the blood off the meat slicer. Maybe a pilgrimage is in order.

And I am very excited for this premium!

I am not bragging when I say that this is the greatest premium in the history of premiums. The word 'premium' does not capture its magnificence.

More details will be revealed about it in the coming weeks, but EVERYBODY will want this.

Tom.

The second question I have after "who's on it," is "how will I wait til summer to hear it?"

will it include tattoo kits, apples, and socks (choose two) or is that mike's premium, "i guarantee it" fun pack?

The second question I have after "who's on it," is "how will I wait til summer to hear it?"

The price of cryogenically freezing oneself has taken a large drop recently.

I was already planning on going for the premium this year, but this cinches it.

I hear it's going to be a briefcase with an apple in it.

A baby's arm holding an apple.

Thank you, senorcorazon, for triggering that pleasant image for me.

Does it make a difference if I pledge now online and choose the Best Show pack or call up and do it?

Pledge during the show.

Pledge during the show.

I don't think it matters as far as getting the premium, but I agree with yesno. It's a really nice feeling to pledge during the show, hearing yourself thanked and knowing you're a part of that growing total. I pledged during last year's first marathon show and it felt really great to know I contributed when they broke the $40K mark.

I didn't know that last year (it was my first listening during marathon) and even though I mentioned that the Best Show was the reason for my pledge, I was bummed to not get thanked and be a part of Tom's excitement. Will not make that mistake this year.

The excitement comes from pledging DURING THE SHOW.

We will be giving away prizes that you WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GET ANYWHERE ELSE. Seriously, some people are coming through bigtime with some good stuff for the regular prize drawings. So DONT MISS OUT.

Tom.

If anyone needs further convincing to pledge during the show, pull up the archive of last year's first marathon show (2/26/08) and listen to the last 12 minutes or so.

This is ridiculously exciting.  The RAM tribute sounds amazing. Anyone who doesn't pledge is a dummy.  You have $75 somewhere. Maybe don't buy coffee for a week. This is worth it.

It was very exciting to hear the lineup revealed last night and can't wait to listen to it.

Where are you buying your coffee from?

But yes, you're right. $75.00 = $0.48/hour for a year's worth of the Best Show. That's the biggest bang for your buck out there!

Just out of sheer curiosity, why is it called a "mouse pledge"? I've never heard that term used outside of WFMU, and can't find an answer on the internet.

I think its because it goes toward supporting the interweb offerings of WFMU.

Do we know what guests Tom has lined up for the next two weeks?  Not that he needs any...it would be just as monumental if it was just him and the co-DJ.  But just curious if there are any.

I probably spend $75 on coffee per week, but that's only because I exclusively patronize the Starbuck's in my local airport.

There isn't a premium, but I'm sure all my creeps and monsters will do the right thing and pledge when I offer a personal copy of the Season 1 Intervention dvd and authentic plastic bags from the Acme featured in The Wrestler.

Spring Break!  I don't have to work!

HOME FOR BEST SHOW!

James McNew singing?!  So can't wait to tear open the mail everyday for this. I had already planned on donating enough for the MMM pack but, now, it's like finding money in a used car you bought.
