that analysis is fucking stupid.

I thought it was perceptive and insightful (esp. the tribal scenes) no way to know how accurate.

I thought Trinsky was referring to this:

that analysis is fucking stupid.

And no wonder!  It's the kind of argument that would persuade anyone.

Wow, that Kriss Kross thing is sad. Shave yo head, dawg.

i stand by my point. it's fucking stupid to try to analyze a person's personal life based on one song while ignoring the rest of their material. like for instance the entire rest of the fucking album about his break up!

I think that the analysis is stretching to find meaning in shit that's obviously there for artistic or aesthetic purposes  or simply incidental for example, they say the tribesmen being painted white symbolizes being scared of woman. but if they knew anything about africa they would know that it's not uncommon for certain tribes to decorate themselves in white mud like this guy here from ethiopia so it's probably just something as simple as they dropped a stack of photos of african tribesmen in front of the make up artist and said "make them look like this"

but maybe i'm wrong maybe he's sooo gay that he's scared of woman!

I think that this whole thing is part off a larger homophobia especially in the hip hop world. I mean, how is it possible for a straight man to be interested in fashion and art and speak out against homophobia unless he's secretly in the closet??

I don't give a shit if hes gay or not but in my opinion this type of shit exists to try to take power away from Kayne. his calling people out on homophobia is threatening especially if he's a straight guy but it makes it alot easier for people to reject what he has to say if they just say he's some closet case.

Well clearly that would be the case if the tribal scene wasn't part of a larger narrative. If it was just random cut aways to tribal scenes like NIN's "head like a hole" I would agree.

I think one of the reasons people deconstruct art is because it reveals tropes that may not have been consciously intended by the artist(s), subtext if you will. Perhaps we are all just projecting but that says something too.

I don't care if the guy is gay or not but giant Dogon space lesbian goddesses are intriguing.

I was just making fun of the title of this thread - the way it sounds like a John Wayne line, the word "poast", and also the use of "urban" to establish credibility in discussing two musical artists one could probably hear in a Vermont dentist office.

I'm not really making fun of TE, though.  I get that he was being iron-tongue-in-iron-cheek about it.

Carry on.

"Get on the bus" is

a) from the 60's. Acid, etc. etc.

and

b) a Spike Lee movie.
