By default, I have to go with Craig Ferguson.
-
What is this, one of those f/m/k polls?
If we're going with overall funny and such, Kimmel is high on that list - but his show drove into a ditch something fierce a few years ago, and has never gotten out. I've missed Fallon every night this week so far, so I can't comment there really - but his writing staff is great and he has the Roots, so c'mon. Craiggers has a nice charm and rapport with the audience/camera, but he has crappy guests, has a lot of repetitive go-to material (which unlike Conan, isn't self-deprecating enough to be consistently funny), and needs someone to play off of more (either a producer, band leader, sidekick, anything) on slower nights.
Going off the "I'd have a beer with him" test, Ferguson'd win, but he don't imbibe no more. And I'd like to play Century with Kimmel, so I'll say him. (he has a better posse than Craig, too)
-
Gotta go with Ferguson, but Kimmel is growing into his show pretty well. Jimmy Fallon is a vicious black hole of funny though. I am a very happy person, but I get really angry just thinking about the existence of his show.
-
Late night tv could use a little more....uhh spice. Rather bland offering.
-
I've never actually seen Craig Ferguson's show, but I figure I could laugh at his accent, so I voted for him.
A friend pointed out that while neither Jimmy is funny, Jimmy Kimmel does appear to be a genuine nice guy. Fallon, on the other hand, would stab you in the back.
-
Voted Ferguson
I don't understand why Kimmel's show even exists (or why anyone would consider it relevant in any way), and I refuse to actually acknowledge Fallon's show
-
I've hated Jimmy Kimmel since he treated the great David Liebe Hart like human garbage:

I think Jimmy Fallon is an unfunny marble mouth and I don't think his show will be getting any better.
So I voted for Craig Ferguson. Even though his show is boring and he seems pretty obtuse for a talk show host, at least he's likable.
I'm really looking forward to Conan's return.
-
Ugh. I actually didn't mind Jimmy Kimmel before I saw that.
-
I don't like any of them.
-
they're all fucking douchebags.

You still need to vote.
These guys would make a great f/m/k.

Oh, well that's easy. M Fergie, F/K Jimmy - doesn't matter which one.
-
I like Ferguson's monologues when he goes unscripted. I'm surprised that Jimmy Kimmel is still the only person to use video clips during his monologues, which I've always liked.
Nobody does good "skit" material and I'll agree with earlier posters that Ferguson seems to get the worst guests.

The format of celebrity interviews is generally pretty terrible that it makes Conan and Letterman only intermittently watchable, despite that both of those two are brilliant. Fallon might be great, after Conan we should have all learned our lesson in judging talk show hosts too early. But Kimmel and Ferguson's shows are both unwatchable while the guys themselves seem okay.
Kimmel (for being funny in things besides his show on occasion)
Ferguson (for being different)
Fallon (not his show, but he was terrible on SNL and hasn't done anything else)

I really enjoy Craig Ferguson's monologues, in fact I don't think there is anybody better than him at any time slot when it comes to the opening monologue. But, I only watched him when Conan was on a rerun I'd already seen because I didn't want to miss a good Conan bit. Now I suppose I can watch the opening of Craig and the turn it off because the rest of the show isn't very good. His guests always seem uncomfortable and not in a funny Letterman way.
-
This is a grim list... it makes me happy I'm usually asleep before they come on.
but I'd have to say Ferguson.
-
I agree that CF's monologues are the best. I like Kimmel's sense of humor for the most part. His guests always seem like they have a lot of fun. And I haven't seen Jimmy 'Nervous Nellie" Fallon's rendition yet.

Ditto. Why is this a forced choice between these three? Why didn't you throw Leno into the mix just for fun?
Ferguson, Kimmel, Fallon in that order, but not really a fan of any of them.
-
Conan?

That clip makes me want to die.
-
If only given the choice between the three I would say Craig Ferguson. I think Conan is the best out there, though. I don't think Letterman has been quite as excellent as he was at NBC. Leno is borderline unwatchable.

I was just remarking the other day that this so-called "next generation" of late night hosts are all white men. Not that I'm against white men, I am one. Just wondering if one of the networks couldn't have done something to put a new kind of face on their late-late show. Or maybe just someone who's funnier.
-
Ive never seen any of these, but I have to go for Craig Ferguson, because it never ceases to amaze me that hes a household name in the US. He was a very minor figure in the TV comedy circuit in the UK in the late 80s/early 90s, doing the usual round of improv, game shows and stand up programmes on TV. Possibly he may have been more famous in Scotland, as they have different TV to England. I always quite liked him, but as a teenage comedy nerd, i am one of the few people who know who he is.
-
I think Rich Hall is more famous in the UK than the US. That kind of thing seems to happen a lot.
-
Don't any of you people have jobs?

Yes he is. Was he well known in the US in the 80s? His Otis Lee Crinshaw character had some success, but he has mainly been famous as a panelist on quiz shows. He also did a good, eccentric, series called Cattle Drive.
-
Ferguson Jenkins.
Why?
-
I have only ever heard Rich Hall mentioned on the Best Show. I saw him on QI a few times (which I bittorrented), before I realized how much I hate those dumb panel shows.
-
I would also like to point our to DFK that I've never even seen any of the jimmy shows, or the craig show. I don't see why that should stop me from forming an opinion.
-
Don't any of you people have jobs?
it is this very reason that ive had to record late nite shows i watch. although, when i was a kid, i would tape record conan. my mom kept wondering where all her daytime soap tapes were disappearing to.

Meow Powercaller, meow. :P

I'll record them if there is a guest or band I want to see.
