So last night Le Scharpling raised $61,000 and the week previous he raised $62,000!
This is an amazing, unprecedented achievement for WFMU!
Congratulations to Tom for this prodigious accomplishment. Tom's been working on these marathon shows since early summer of LAST year---running around, organizing to get the elements together for the performances and premiums together. He's worked many, many late nights on this and he's exhausted (and the 'thon's not even done yet).
Thanx to Jon Wurster, Hatch, Therese, Chad, AP Mike, Glen L and all the FOTS who gave their time, money and efforts to the 'thon and to
Ted Leo, Aimee Mann, Paul F. Tompkins and John Hodgman who gave their massive talents in performance ! ( I know Tom will do a more thorough thanx, but i thought i mention it here while i had a few seconds)
But i really wanted to congratulate Tom on his Herculean feat of fundraising!!!! (Because for all his on-air bravado, he's too modest to really make hay about this truly notable and unparalleled his fund-raising was!)
And can I request that if anyone has, or finds pix online of last night’s/ last week’s TBSOWFMU’s marathon shows to please post them here?
(please if it’s a really unflattering, crap pic of Tom, pls don’t post it---we don’t wanna bum out Kid Jersey, our hero!)

There's a flickr stream with some really great pictures from week 1. In fact, I started using a picture of myself as my facebook picture! There are some really good pics of the phone slaves, Tom, Jon, AP Mike, and Hatch. I understand the fellow from New York Press is waiting to upload the high quality digital SLR photos from last night. I'm sure he'd be happy to share them.

Also, someone posted a twitpic of Therese in her sailor hat. I was SHOCKED someone could pull off that look so well. Ted and Terre also look really cute in their FOT hats! Hodgman looks jaunty in the sailor's cap/scarf combo!

Oh hell yeah.
Not that its a competition, but, for illustrative purposes only, for example Tom's show last year (when he "only" made $92,000), he made 4x what the Cherry Blossom Clinic made
and that show does pretty decently fund-raising wise!*
A 3-hour show making $6K is considered really good...so do the math, guys! Tom did beyond GREAT!!
*Its OK with Terre to mention this, because what Tom did was so insanely record-breaking and its being mentioned purely to highlight HOW incredibly exceptional our Tommy did!

That's what AP Mike looks like? Maybe it's just me, but the face doesn't match the voice. Anyway, I didn't donate enough to get the premium, but I gave what I could afford. Congratulations Tom and congratulations to WFMU! Keep up the good work.

I saw Rush/Til Tuesday on the tour where Til Tuesday opened for Rush. I am old.
Congrats to Tom and good work to all the FOTs. With a marathon you don't want to go out too fast and have nothing left in the second half, which can be a truly dreadful experience. Having an almost even split like that shows disciplined pacing that would make ol' Hal Higdon proud, that is if he's still alive. I'll go Google that and get back to you.

Obviously, Tom and friends crushed this thing. Hands down, it was awesome.
That said, I think the entire WFMU airstaff did a magnificent job this time out. I couldn't tune out. They transform the guaranteed-audience-repellent that is fundraising into the best entertainment anywhere.
The marathon isn't just the Superbowl of radio, it's the Superbowl of audio itself.
