"Author Douglas Rushkoff moves into the Monday 7pm slot tonight with his new talk show The Media Squat. The program will look at how life has been literally "incorporated" by business and economics, as well as looking at possibilities for how to incorporate LIFE back into our lives: local commerce, community, social currency, and all that good stuff."
I hadn't heard about this. Unlike the other new talk shows,* this one might be pretty good.
* Acousmatic Theater Hour does not count as a "talk show."

Yeah, this looks good (and thanks for sparing us your critical wrath). He's got a new book called Life, Inc. coming out which also looks good, and appears to be a pretty detailed analysis of the phenomenon rather than just another anti-corporate rant (nothing against anti-corporate rants).
I will raise my voice in defense of Night People, though, even though I can't manage to keep up with it -- TBS is the only 3-hour talk show I can handle at the moment. But I like those guys and have enjoyed the times I've listened to it.

I admit I've never actually listened to Night People. I'm going off secondhand reports.
I even love it when WFMU does experiments that don't work.

I think this may be good. Thanks for the heads up.
If anyone missed his Frontline episode The Merchants of Cool (http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/cool/view/) about marketing to teens, I highly recommend it. I think it is about ten years old but still really interesting. They even bring FOT favorites Insane Clown Posse into it.

Looks like someone hacked into the WFMU mainframe, so the archive for his début has been lost. Shame.
