What's up with Edge now? Is he a heel or a face in 2009?
I'm out of the loop. Sadly!
-
I'll say yes. But I haven't really enjoyed wrestling since Ted DiBiase retired.
-
I love old school wrestling and i've been meaning to start watching again.
-
It's all gone downhill from Wrestlemania II, which not only featured William "The Fridge" Perry, but if I recall, Hilbilly Jim and two "midgets" versus King Kong Bundy and two "midgets".
King Kong Bundy did his signature move, "The Avalanche", on a man whose entire body was smaller than King Kong Bundy's torso. It's been all downhill from there.

I wish Undertaker would bring back Paul Bearer.

I apologize, the King Kong Bundy fiasco was during Wrestlemania III. He sure showed Little Beaver who's boss. The future governor of Minnesota provides some great commentary.
Go to 7:19! Smash him, Bundy!

That's one of Pig Champion's several urns.
-
Both of those guys are SO OLD.
Undertaker to win.
-
Professional wrestling is one of the few . . . sports where age doesn't necessarily rule a contender out. I like that.
Of the two, I vastly prefer the Undertaker.
-
It doesn't even matter how old The Undertaker is. He's already dead. Multiple times over. He can also fly and shoot electricity from his fingers and has a mysterious army of hooded druids who serve at his whim*. It's a wonder that he could ever lose any match, much less one of such historical importance. I suspect all of the losses he's taken in his storied career have merely been the result of him becoming bored and losing interest in a match, like those 10 games the 1996 Chicago Bulls lost.
No, I think it's pretty clear that the best chance to have beaten him was when he faced his own magical brother, the diabolical Kane. Or if the evil clone Undertaker were to return. Indeed, the lift on stem cell research restrictions could be the Undertaker's greatest challenge, if the scientific community was able to create a newer, better, more evil clone of the Undertaker by this time next year. This may explain Obama's strong, anti-cloning stance: he doesn't want the undefeated streak to end.
*My apologies to the mysterious hooded druid army and their families if my information is outdated and they have been let go by the Undertaker due to these troubled economic times.

I knew a guy during college who could do an uncanny impersonation of Paul Bearer. He and my college roommate had plans to dress up as The Undertaker and Paul Bearer for Halloween, but I don't know if it ever happened.

Undertaker fan here. This is probably the only forum in the whole world where I can make such an admission.
-
I believe Mr. Taker will win this wrestling match.
-
HBK by way of a "Montreal Screwjob"*
* A "Montreal Screwjob" sounds like a filthy finishing move or something that would be discussed on the Mike Show. For its true meaning, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montreal_Screwjob (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montreal_Screwjob)

Oh, you should make it elsewhere just to give people an unrest cure.

I don't know, Undertaker's kinda flip flopped on the whole "dead man" thing over the years. He had that biker persona for a while, and they worked his very not-undead wife into an angle once. Then there was that time they tried to capitalize on The Sopranos' success by making him a schlubby New Jersey mob boss. They gave "Paulie Bearer" wingtips and everything.

I love old school wrestling and i've been meaning to start watching again.
They actually released some pretty great anthologies the last couple years. They have Wrestlemania, Royal Rumble, and SummerSlam sets that have the entire PPV broadcasts. Netflix has the Wrestlemania and Royal Rumble sets. The Wrestlemania one has I-2004, Royal Rumble has '88-'07. They've also released a lot of wrestler-specific DVDs that have some great matches.
I pretty much stopped paying attention a few years ago because it was too depressing watch them trot out the broken down old stars but I definitely have a soft spot for the older stuff. Undertaker better win, I don't see any point in him losing now.
-
When I saw the title of this thread I thought jokingly, this is probably about the Undertaker's Wrestlemania win streak. Imagine my surprise when I was right. I'm rooting for 'Taker. Michaels hasn't been interested since he became a born-again Christian.
-
i confess to find WWF produced documentaries terribly, terribly addictive.

Well, looking at his stats his power is excellent, though his speed is lacking. I think we must give the nod to 'Taker, because his fav. quote is pretty spooky.
-
i LOVE that i knew what this thread would be about just from the subject line.
my fave 'taker moment: when he fought himself, summerslam 94.
-
I have no idea what any of you are talking about but this thread is fantastic.

I love the tagline to Undertakers mid-90's match against I.R.S.: "Death vs. Taxes!"
-
A lot of his opponents have had to shop for coffins...

Actually, Undertaker's favorite quote is "That's your happiness... and my ha-penis" from Last Tango in Paris, but I guess that didn't fit on screen.

Maybe in the PS3 games they can finally start getting these things right.

The WWE needs to bring back the Corporate Ministry.

just a few more hours to get your picks in!

BOOM! Rest in peace.
-
I am very happy for Mr. Undertaker.
-
My condolences to the Michaels family on his passing.
-
I hope the three people who inexplicably voted against The Dead Man will do the right thing by stepping forward to identify themselves, explain their thought process and then kindly leave the FOT board without incident, as I'm pretty sure Josh was conducting this poll under Loser Leaves Town stipulations.
-
I'm astonished to see such a disproportionately high number of FOTs as current/former pro wrestling fans. I always knew there must be some kind of common bond for us all... now I know.
-
Turn me on, dead man.
What?
-
On a side note: has anyone played that new Legends of Wrestlemania game? I'm intrigued by the inclusion of Koko B. Ware.
-
Koko B. Ware done got inducted into the Hall of Fame last night.
Also, I can't be the only person that thinks this was a little too dumb?

Mr. Undertaker did not disappoint. I'm sure there were jubilant celebrations all night in his home town of Death Valley.

Those were the original terms of the poll, but apparently The Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels and Tom had some backstage discussions early Sunday evening, and, in what I'm terming "The General Discussion Screwjob", those three doubters are now co-holders of the Space Championship Belt.

There's already a documentary about this scandal underway, tentatively titled POSTING WITH SHADOWS.

I do think Josh spitting Tom in the face was uncalled for.
