Last week marked the one year anniversary of The Best Podcast on WFMU. Nobody noticed. Nobody cared. Not even a Bluemountain e-card.
I wonder if Radio Zero is looking for a podcast lackey?
-
I feel horrible for missing the anniversary!
You do such an amazing job editing the podcast each and every week for zero dollars. I thank you from the bottom of my heart, and I would love to see other fans of the podcast show some love to our friend from Hawaii!
Tom.

for me the podcasts have proven to be the best way to revisit the shows.
and for that i thank you, our beloved podcast architect.
-
Solid work, book em. Or should I say "Mr. Dano?"
-
Yes! Thanks muchly for the podcasts!!!
Am here in Korea...it's 11am when the show goes out live and I'm at work!
(^.^)

I find that the Podcasts are a great way to introduce new people to the Best show. They are great.
-
I love the podcast because I listen to it while stripping paint in my house.
I wish that there were more classic shows in mp3 format, but I understand that that is a bunch of work and no one is offering money.
-
Happy anniversary, darling! And thank you.
-
I love the podcast and appreciate the work that goes into it, and will take any opportunity to say so.
I just don't do anniversaries.
Also, I downloaded another podcast on March 3, 2006, so I've always considered March 4 our anniversary.

I can't express how happy I am that the Best Show podcast exists. It's my little audio life raft for my subway commute each day. Please keep up the good work!!
-
Best Podcast on the Intronet. Too bad only 61 people subscribe. Wasn't Petey supposed to drum up support as part of his bridge troll sentencing??
-
Makes my daily 60 mile round-trip commute bearable! Thanks man!
-
Happy Anniversary, sweetheart.
-
Thanks for all your hard work with the podcast. I have signed up 5 people so far and more to come, keep up the good work.

great work on the podcast, dan-o! Some pals of mine are just now starting to get turned on to the TBSOWFMU through it, so know that you have helped to spread quite a few smiles across the globe.

There are programs out there that will download the streaming feeds of the archives and convert them into mp3, m4a's or m4b's if you so wish. I've been catching up on the earliest shows at work on my ipod this way. I can usually listen to 2 or three shows in a shift.
-
I'm going to make my brother subscribe.
-
Thanks a ton! I rarely get a chance to listen in live, so the podcast is usually my only real option. Your effort is appreciated.
-
Thank you, fellow island dweller! I got hooked on the Best Show around August of 2006 thanks to the podcast. I've been listening to the show live ever since but now that I am being bombarded with "responsibility" it has been hard to listen to the whole three hours of the triple M's - so thank you, you have made it possible for me to enjoy the Best Show in these dark times.

If that isn't objectionable to anyone from TBS or WFMU yu should do it, that would be freaking awesome.
-
So -- these programs grab the stream and convert it in the background of the computer? Does it do it in real-time? What's this program called?
-
I wouldn't mind having a good chunk of the archive on Itunes, you could even leave the music intact. Thank you for your work.

Uhh..no I/they couldn't...there's that little "issue" known as the RIAA, ya know...
I have the entire archives converted and edited in podcast-ready mp3 format...now if Tom could take a 5 year break from the live show, we can actually get the entire thing out there on the podcast feed! How awesome would that be?
-
DUDE. Sweet. Maybe you could make like the Best Week Ever podcast and 'cast a squillion things each week.
-

Not very! :D
Good work though.. that's dedication!

I'm reading old posts....
Who is Richard_From_CHI?
Strikes me as quite a character.

He's a guy who spent way too much time on the board then disappeared.

You're telling a guy who is going through posts from 2 years ago that someone spent "way too much time on the board." I think you got hammer your point home a bit harder there, fletch mun.
respectfully,

I think dead-thread resurrection is awesome. Kudos, fonpr.
-
I would not survive LA traffic without the Best Show podcast (and the Comedy & Everything Else podcast. i'm in my car a LOT, but that's another story).
THANK YOU and HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

Resurrecting the Dead is one of my specialties.

All these rumors about the podcast going away are bad news. SAVE THE PODCAST!!
(I figured if we're resurrecting 2-year-old posts we should resurrect 2-year-old jokes)

WHAT?!? This is insane. This is the only way I can listen to the show--I work every single Tuesday night, and have for years.
Jesus. This would honestly be the pits. Is there a place to donate to make sure it'll stay on?
-
Podcast disappearance would be a horrible thing. I always miss at least the first half-hour/hour due to parent duties (bedtime).
-
Richard from CHI and his wife had a baby and that was pretty much it. He and I are the board's biggest Woodsy fans.

Woodsy Owl?
Give a hoot don't pollute.
The world is not my ashtray

Thanks to your efforts, Book Em, many a subway commuter has been hosed down with an iced chai spit-take from me.
-
For a while dere, the podcast was the only mode of Best Show listening I had- I was able to listen to the podcasts at night when I worked at camp last summer.
I appreciate you, Book Em, and the work you do! Thanks and happy anniversary!
-
I don't know what I'd do without the podcast. Probably listen to something way lamer and be less happy. You do good work!
-
^What Emma said, only with a different inflection on the vowel sounds.
-
Thanks for editing the show. I greatly appreciate it.
BTW, it was mentioned that there were 61 subscribers prior to this thread being resurrected; does anyone know how many subscribers there are now?
-
the hard work put in does not go unnoticed...
great job~~~

respectfully,
I just reread my post and thought:
Wouldn't it be funny if spending too much time on a board made you disappear? Like, you reach a certain post count and *POOF!* you vanish into thin air.
(cough), just a thought.
