Alvaro from Glen Mills would be Nas
mc paul barman at best (i did like the song, a lot, but he's no jorma taconne on the production end)
-
Alright, perhaps I was being a bit too generous. How about MC Serch?
-
I'd say Mike would be the front man of his own band, Led Zeppole.
-
I would have thought Mike might be Tom Waits.
-
masterofsparks = john darnielle.
not sure why i think that fits.
-
Fredericks of New Port Richey = Captain Beefheart
Spike = Klaus Nomi, except more boring
Sarah = Vashti Bunyan
-

Larry the Perv = John Valby

I am definitely no NAS. I didn't do any of the beat making. The beat was made by my roommate. I've heard the MC Paul Barman twice this week, not counting the FOT Forum, but I personally don't hear it. I don't dislike his stuff, I just don't see the connection.

I want to be Tony Rudd.
-
Forrest= Dean Martin.
Emma= Tracyanne Campbell.
-
So who is Kevin Allin? dfk?
-
(steps forward) You guys just found your Diamanda Galas.

So who is Kevin Allin? dfk?
You take that back.

Dave from Knoxville = Geddy Lee
Steve Davidson = G. Gallin

only if he's also a baseball historian. Actually that was Pete Nice (http://www.amazon.com/Baseball-Legends-Brooklyns-Green-Wood-Cemetery/dp/0738534781).

Yea, MC Serch was the guy who, even though it was abundantly clear that he hung out with black people a lot, never missed an opportunity to tell you how many black people he hung out with. Didn't he even try to join the nation of islam or some such nonsense?

Sarah = Prof. Henry Higgins fronting Dead Moon? Just throwing that out there.
-
Dave from Knoxville = 3 Geddy Lees
Steve Davidson = G. Gallin
Fixed!
As Tom pointed out last week about Dan Aykroyd, I am "rather rotund." Apparently I "sucked the straw" in the womb.
-
Ted Leo = Ted Leo

Nearer the mark than Vashti Bunyan, anyway.
-
Sarah = Vashti Bunyan
?
this was my exact reaction, but i can see where Thomas made the connection. personally, i think sarah=moondog.
-
i can see where Thomas made the connection.
Really? Please elaborate. I don't get it.

well, i can only speak from my own persepective, but there's something about vashti bunyan songs that make me think of a cabin/house in the middle of nowhere, especially the melodies. im struggling to describe it, but the brief descriptions youve given of your lifestyle give the impression that youre very content and happy in the woods of Maine. unless im completely off the mark and thinking of another FOT who lives in the country, at which point, then i dont get it either.
at any rate, its the vashti bunyan voice that makes me disagree (which is why i threw out moondog).
-
Ah, okay. I can accept that. Ms. Bunyan, however, strikes me as more the fey wood nymph type, which bears no resemblance to me. Prof. Higgins covering Dead Moon, now . . . that I do get.
In any case, I live on the water. In a big city of 1500 souls.

I wish. Sometimes. (That holds for both.)
-
I've always pictured Fredericks as a cheery Dan Higgs.
-
so if we were to throw Spoony out there...are we talking sans mustache (the "new" Spoony) or classic Spoony?

Yeah, this was the mental connection I made.
