Q is a show on CBC radio hosted by this jerk Jian Ghomeshi, this guy is a class A hack. He played in sort of a "proto Barenaked Ladies ish band" called Moxy Fruvos, absolute garbage. Anyways, today he had Billy Bob Thorton's band The Boxmasters on and took a lickin'. This is maybe the first time I've ever felt anything resembling sympathy for the dude. This kind of thing is always happening, you give a guy like this a guitar and he starts saying things like "I grew up pretty much a music historian... so." Plus anyone that plays a "fusion" of some billy genre with MOD totally stinks.

Oh, Jian's all right. This interview really is quite shocking.
"Would you ask Tom Petty that?"
-
When women angrily yank off each other's weaves/wigs on Jerry Springer, I always think it's gratuitious. In the case of Billy Bob in this interview, I think it would have been totally acceptable retribution.
-
To be fair, he had been told that Kris Kristofferson would be conducting the interview. He was thrown off his game.
I have so many thoughts about this I don't know where to begin. I'll just say that 9:09-9:12 is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Those poor bastards.

I made it to 25 seconds.
I was overcome with nausea and an intense compulsion to smash that guy in the face with a frying pan.
-
I didn't even press play.
-
Jason's nausea is real. I felt it too.
The important thing is, everyone's having a lot of fun his band members look like kids at the dinner table when dad's about to break out the belt on mom.
The D.J. should've asked "So what was it like coming up in Jacksonville, Florida?"
or "Tell us more about your friendship with Dave Stewart. How has that informed you, musically?"

he's faking it, and it's hilarious.

It does seem fake, I agree! I don't know about the hilarious part though. Why would you go to Canada and call them mashed potatos without gravy? How rude. I thought fake soul-patch cowboys were supposed to be charming.
-
I would have stopped the interview and started asking the most exploitative questions about Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston I could think of. If he'd gotten up to leave or to fight me, I would've pulled out a gun and said, "SIT DOWN AND ANSWER MY QUESTIONS, MOTHAFUCKA!"
I bet Billy Bob wouldn't be expecting that response, especially from a Canadian.
-
It's called viral marketing. Y'all just been Billy Bob'd!
-
That would conveniently explain this undeniable urge to drape myself in Boxmasters merch.
-
he's faking it, and it's hilarious.
Seems like he's been studying Joaquin.
Plus, now everyone knows the name of his band. Smart guy.

I agree that it feels fake, but I think that's more just because he's a huge phony.

Oooh, I'm gonna pretend you didn't say that about my favorite band when I was 10.
-

In a situation like this, what's the difference between pretending to be a huge asshole and really being a huge asshole?

Exactly.

I thought he should have just kept feeding Billybob 'Music Historian' Thorton classic monster model kit questions and never mention the Boxmasters name again.

Hooray for Toronto -

The trio was the opening act for Nelson until they were loudly booed in Toronto, a day after the actor-musician's bizarre interview with a CBC radio host. Ironically, the comments that offended Canadians included Thornton's assessment that they were "very reserved" and "it doesn't matter what you say to them."
"It's mashed potatoes with no gravy," Thornton told CBC host Jian Ghomeshi.
"We tend to play places where people throw things at each other and here they just sort of sit there," he said.
The audience at Thursday night's show in Toronto loudly booed the Boxmasters, with some shouts of "Here comes the gravy!"

It goes on and on....
