I miss Officer Tom and Purple Shirt.
-
I miss Boring Owen and his hunger suit. And most of all August!
-
Jason
ROTY Eddie
Kid Kansas
How about semi-regular callers you would like to become regular callers? That would obviously be Sonny from Jersey City. I hear he's a big star on the Mike Show.
-
"Payola" Gordon from North/South Dakota.
-
Tugboat Richie.
-
The parade of 10 to 14 year olds.
-
August. :(
-
Tugboat Richie.
He's a regular on The Dusty Show.
-
Kid Kansas and "Payola" Gordon are almost certainly the same person. I've done a voice analysis* to prove it. You'd get two for the price of one.
* I listened to their calls very closely, separated by only a few months. It's the same dude.
-
The parade of 10 to 14 year olds.
That conversation with Tom and that one kid (Mac?) about metal bands is probably my favorite Best Show moment.
-
Tommert
The dude who claimed he had a hairlip and was rude as hell
-
The Anti-Hasu Kid. I think time has vindicated his position.
-
Mack was a pretty awesome caller.
-
Tommert and Mac seconded. And Larry the Perv.
-
This is easy.
Clark!
How long was he banned for?
-
Mustafa !! (http://www.friendsoftom.com/forum/index.php/topic,3693.msg88180.html#msg88180) (sp?)
-
MC Steinberg
-
The Mr. T soundboard guy.
-
Hippie Johnny
Tommert
Payola guy
-
Riyadh, the kid with the rap blog.
-
What about that captain jack guy? ??? He hasn't called in a while. He was pretty funny! ;D

He was pretty fucking terrifying was what he was.

Oh brother.

Captain Jack is so unbelievably annoying. Not even in an entertaining way. He's the loud guy your friends brought to the party because he doesn't go out much, he ends up drinking too much because he doesn't know his limit, and he makes obnoxious and painfully unfunny remarks that blanket a sad quiet over everyone in proximity. He's that, times a million.
-
Joey Levels.
Mustafa is a good one too.
-
i don't know if the guy even identified himself but he started talking about the 60s and chewing gum and then Tom said (paraphrasing)..."is that where we're at...street wisdom?"
also the guy annoyed about how Tom was dissing George Carlin (there were a couple I think)...the one from Markham Illinois? "We can make our OWN subs!"
and the guy who claimed he saw Tom at Medieval Manor shaking a chicken bone at the Green Knight!...Tom's response being "is that all we're doing here?...maybe--- but you people love it!!!!"
all three gave Tom an excellent platform to riff back brilliantly
-
I liked August and miss him calling in. The Payola Guy was great.
Also have to say a good word for Captain Jack. I never found him the least bit terrifying. I guess I found him obnoxious and funny in the same way I found Matt Walsh's calls to the show obnoxiously funny. I thought his was obnoxiousness calculated for comic effect, and for me, it worked more often than not. But hey, what do I know? I'll even laugh at Gilbert Gottfried from time to time, and everyone I know seems to think he's the biggest drip on the entire planet.

The parade of 10 to 14 year olds.
Was this the inspiration for Puberty's Chaperone?
-
Sarim
-
Paycheque!
(sp?)
-
Forgive me: Stevie Blue
-
Sarim
First of all, Sarim is Larry the Perv. Think about it, you never see them in a room together.
I miss some of the meat and potatoes callers like Martin from Edison and the guy who works on Entertainment Tonight. The Richard Kind dude had a nice run and might have made a strong contribution to the Martin Short interview.
-
Didn't Martin from Edison call just the other minute? Paycheque called not too long ago, too. Besides, he always calls sparingly; it's one of his virtues.

You're sending that back-handed message to me, aren't you?
I tried to call in this week; I was on the road to Nashville and cold-called. Mike probably didn't know any better at the time, but he suggested Mr Short would not field calls (I had a very respectful comment.) So I hung up and kept driving.
-
Dave, that basketful of opossum is going to haunt me forever.

Don't take things so personally, son. I intended it for everyone who calls a lot. I've never made any bones about my belief that no caller is good enough to call every month, much less every week.
Except that one guy.
-
If it hasn't been said yet, I miss Officer Tom's calls too. I'd love to trade stories with that guy sometime.
-
Not so much callers as callees: Hova, Belindo and Baby Ed.
-
heche was a fun caller, hated but fun.
Also pudge calls crack me up.
-
Not a regular caller, but

Petey.

I miss Officer Tom and Purple Shirt.
Me too. OT rules. It's been a long time since I heard one of his calls, but I think I remember him once calling Purple Shirt "Purp", which if it happened, is an awesome twist of cop jargon.

He's still pulling the late shift. He'll be back.

When was his last appearance?

I never thought of him as related to Anne. He's always been Hesh to me.
-
When was his (Officer Tom's) last appearance?
I seem to remember a brief call from him earlier this year. Or very late 2008. But I do jump all around the archives a lot, so I could be a bonehead.

Yes, I remember him calling around the Todd Palin episode. October maybe? I just remember being glad to hear him again.
