That was so amazing. Classic moment. And when he just started playing again...! I howled.

Caleb's call was one of the many high points of the show. The kid has some serious chops. And he's better than Wavves or Times New Viking.

I hope he doesn't start smoking.

I agree. Caleb was bringing it. I hope he follows up with a call about how the talent show went.

That - and with Explosion, pt 2

I was humming "Explosion" as I took clothes off the line just now.

I loved the song, and was absolutely dying when he played it again, unprompted. But I was also laughing hysterically at Tom's impromptu lyrics for Eruption as theme songs for Piranha 3D and PFT.

I want to pinch his little cheeks! I hope we get to hear him grow up, too!

Even with all of the greatness and surprises the Best Show has had in 2009, this young man still provided my favorite moment of all.

Also, congrats to Julie on the success of the Julie Show. I liked your itchy trigger finger with the callers.

Dear Caleb,

Young sir, please, please, PLEASE call back again!

Old Sir,

I agree.  I'd love to hear how the talent show went.  Or at least a proper recording of Explosion.

Did that kid give his age?  I'm almost 30 and can't even play guitar like that.

Nine.

Wolfie needs to dump old uncle Alex and daddy Eddie and hook up with Caleb.

Explosion could use some sand paper around the rough edges but with a youthful but chunky Halen backing him up, it could make an '09 version of Eruption sound like Roseanne singing the national anthem through a voice modulator.

I think that from his playing style Caleb would fit great in a reconstituted version of Greg Ginn's "Gone" project.
That song was pure Ginn guitar style, complete with weird stops and breaks.

I was riffling through my 10yo nephew Gary's bookbag the other day and found this.

I ripped the CD in case anyone was interesting in hearing (http://kickthebobo.com/explosion.mp3)

We can only hope that Caleb will not fall victim to the world of temptation and vice of the almost-rock 'n' roll lifestyle which corrupted young Peter.

What's wrong with you, rummaging through another person's belongings like that?  You think he has no right to privacy just because he's ten?  I'm appalled.

You are quite possibly one of my favourite people ever.
Also: i want this on my ipod and Tom's rendition of Explosion as Pirahna 3D theme song as my ringtone.

Is KtB's ten-year-old nephew a superstar?

My nephew Gary is NO superstar, trust me. He's just some weird looking little punk with wicked big eyebrows (it's unsettling). I found the CD when i was looking for a lighter the other day. I figure since he smokes (Tareyton 100s - wtf?), there would be one in his backpack.

There's a rule at my place with the kids: What's Mine is Mine, and What's Yours Is Now Mine.

I hope he doesn't start smoking.

If he puts a lit cigarette in the headstock a la Van Halen, that is OK, though.

I have been listening to the Pirahna remix of Explosion far more than any person really should. I really, really hope that Caleb calls back tonight with news on the talent show and the whole rock-and-roll thing, in general.

That whole Caleb call definitely needs to go on a Best Show album.   ;D
