I don't normally take pleasure in the misfortune of another human being. But I have to admit that video was really funny.

My sympathy begins and ends with his hat. Poor hat.
-
that's no ordinary hat! It's a bandanna shield!

If Brett didn't have that hat, he would have seen the curtain. He'd also have no place to shove his wig, or hide the bouquet of loose skin from his face lifts.

I went to the YouTube link, and it says it's from the 2009 Tony Awards ... what the heck was he doing there?
-
After watching this repeatedly, I submit that it's that jaunty little shuffle/skip move he starts doing immediately before getting clunked with the set that truly makes this special.

From Huffington Post this morning:
NEW YORK -- Bret Michaels ran into some scenery at the Tony Awards.
Michaels, star of the reality show "Rock of Love," took to the stage with his hair-metal band Poison during the telecast's opening production number, featuring performances from the season's Broadway musicals.
They performed "Nothin' But a Good Time" with the cast of "Rock of Ages," and as Michaels exited the stage, a descending set piece smacked him on the head and knocked him _ splat! _ to the ground.
Tonys spokeswoman Christina Stejskal says the rocker "missed his mark." Though it looked it, he did not break his nose. Stejskal did not immediately know the extent of his injury.

Contemporary Broadway Musicals + Hair Metal = Two-way tie for last.
That was an awesome video, though. For the first time I regret NOT watching the Tonys, as opposed to regretting watching them.

15 times and counting! I bet he'll think twice the next time he lays it on thick with the chest thumping.

Bret also did a week opposite Mary Louise Parker in Hedda Gabler back in January. Ben Brantley called his performance as Jorgen Tesman "incendiary and mildly nauseating."

I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that "Nothin' But a Good Time" was the best song performed that night.

It looks painful, but not painful enough.
