Title: Was I GOMPed/HHed?
Post by: Pastor Josh on June 09, 2009, 11:07:33 PM
Tom, due to my ridiculously bad cell phone reception, I'm not sure if I was HHed or if I lost the connection.  I only ask because I hope to learn from my mistakes.  If harmonizing with you on a Bowie Top 40 hit is wrong, I do not wish to repeat myself.  Thank you.

Pastor Josh, I honestly couldn't tell. I don't think Tom would GOMP you, because you're a quality caller. I think it was just bad cell reception.

Yeah, don't worry PJ. He loved your call, and asked that you call in next week for a duet of China Girl. Can't wait!

There are some things not to joke about.  Am I really a quality caller?  This is one of those things not to joke about.  (That doesn't mean I wasn't GOMPed, though.  I think Laurie from Miami was GOMPed, as well.)

Even the best get Gomped. DO NOT DWELL ON IT. You are a quality caller.

But seriously, practice up for next week's "All The Young Dudes." Don't blow it.

You are most definitely a quality caller. Even if you were GOMPed, you have to learn from your mistakes and put it behind you.

Don't be so hard on yourself.

But I CAN'T carry a tune!  Even with a choir of boogaloo dudes.

In all honesty, that's what I'm trying o do.  I went outside to make the call, so by the time I got to my computer the next caller was on.  If I transgressed, I wish to learn from it.

Plenty of renowned singers couldn't carry a tune. Bob Dylan, for example. It's not about singing ability. It's about the emotion that you convey and the emotion you elicit from the audience.

I still think I could do a better job on "Slow Burn".

I suggest that you sing "Always Crashing In The Same Car."

I feel unsettled when I don't get Gomped.

I once said I wouldn't call again if I didn't get H-Ho'ed.

Apparently I changed my mind.

FONPR, as a pastor, I am too needy to settle for that.  BPH, I prefer "Subterraneans".  It would be pretty awesome for me and Tom to sign what we thing those lyrics are.

And, to my great chagrin, of course I meant, "sing".  I was just too proud to admit it at the time.

The second parethesis should come before the period.

Pastor Josh: I enjoyed the Pallas Athena shoutout. Most of the BTWN album holds a special place in my heart.

Thanks.  I bought it and Ziggy oin the same day.  They were my first Bowie albums, and, honestly, I listen to BTWN more than I listen to Ziggy any more.  Does that mean I'm old?

A 'best of' aside, Ziggy and BTWN were my first two proper albums, as well. The Jump They Say video, which had been introduced by Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth on the deeply missed 120 Minutes, seems to have been the catalyst which tipped me over from being a casual listener into something nearing on a borderline obsession* which continues. Unlike yourself, however, I did not pick up the two on the same day. There must have been a month or two between them.

*also deemed an illness by more than one individual over the years.

I saw the BTWN special on, of all things, the Disney Channel.  Those were the two that Sam Goody's or whatever the mall store was had the next day.  They seem like a good intro, though.

Bishop Fontana?  Or that guy who kept chasing the dog into various places?
