Title: Sunset Rubdown - Dragonslayer
Post by: allanalpha on June 18, 2009, 10:07:12 AM
I wait for this album, does anyone here enjoy them?

Some haiku about my favorite bands.

Ween holds my soul tight
Their melodies are dreamlike
is this what life is

The Flaming Lips rock
Jesus shooting heroin
is an awesome song

They might be Giants
At least thats what Chris told me
I should of listened

Have a nice day

pioneered fusing hardcore,
hip hop, and metal.

The Archers of Loaf
are fairly summarized as
the poor man's Pavement.

Helmet, House of Pain.
Teenage Fanclub, De La Soul.
Judgment Night soundtrack.

Daisy Chainsaw, as
known through their appearance on
Beavis and Butthead.

All thousand members
of the Polyphonic Spree
rip off Elton John.

I like them just fine
but nevertheless, they do
sound very nineties

Quite a few of their
tracks have four or five stars in
my iTunes right now

"The" Archers of Loaf?
This is a pet peeve of mine.
Still... that band is great.

P.S. If they're anything, they're the poor man's Polvo.

Keith Richards does drugs.
He snorted his dad's ashes.
He's no G. Gallin.

Matt Pinfield hosted
120 Minutes
with grace and panache

A friend of mine (http://www.myspace.com/fingernail) wrote the following excellent 90s music haiku:

Do you remember
That band called Possum Dixon
They weren't too bad.

Hey Oasis guys,
Didn't The Beatles do that
Before and better?

Never been as drunk
as G B V in Chi-town.
Bob Pollard parties.

The National rocks!
despite Rainne Wilson's intro.
and they're not racist.

Ween makes me happy.
Never a crappy album.
Long live the BOOGNISH!

Bad Religion live,
politics and emotions
wrapped in punk rock songs.

If no one minds me getting this thread back on track...

Out of the whole Handsome Furs/Wolf Parade/Swan Lake/etc bands, Sunset Rubdown is easily my favorite. I'm not sure how I feel about Dragonslayer yet. I've listened to Shut Up I Am Dreaming and Random Spirit Lover when they came out, and I liked both of those. I like the epic songs on it (that last song in particular clocks in at about ten and a half minutes and gets pretty intense), but I'm just not getting into it too much. Maybe I should give it another try.

I've listened to the album [dragonslayer] countless times, I love it, I would tell you in Haiku, but I just don't have it in me.
