I'm trying to sell my house, and I've got 7 longboxes full of comics I don't want anymore. I'm probably going to sell about 1-2 longboxes' worth. The rest I'll be mailing out in random batches to anyone who wants them, for free, no catch, no nothing. There is absolutely a lot of junk in there, but also some real good stuff I just don't want anymore and isn't worth it to eBay.
Anyway, respond here if you're interested and PM me your address. You'll get a package with as many random comics as I can possibly fit in it in probably about 2 weeks.

May I suggest Heroes 4 Heroes (http://www.heroes4heroes.org/Heroes4Heroes/Welcome.html)?

You may.

I was all about getting in on some free comic action, but the fontastic suggestion to ship 'em off to Heroes4Heroes far outweighs the pangs of my nerd greed. Hats off to you both. Yet another reason I'm proud to be a card-carrying FOT.
-
Listen, I like the troops as much as the next guy, and Heroes4Heroes is definitely getting a bigass shipment in the near future, but there are plenty to go around. I'll send you some, GeeOff, msg me your address.
-
I would gladly take any leftovers.
-
also, i don't know how badly the troops would want the 4 issues of the Kid'N'Play comics that some lucky FOT will be getting.

Now I don't feel guilty.
Also, having been in the military, I can tell you those guys spend plenty of money on entertainment. I'd want assurances that donations don't just end up in the rear. I'd donate to some cancer kids or something first.

Oh, snap! That is 2 Hype.
<kick step>

If I give you my boyfriend's address can you send him some? He's a big nerd.
-
yes?
-
Awesome, thanks?
-
no problem, just send me the address!
some people have asked about paying me for shipping, that's not necessary! It'll all be going Media Mail, so it'll be cheap anyway, and i think totally free is more fun, right?

Any suggestions, Y/N? I have a longbox of recent comics I'm looking to unload. I might give it to an FOT too if anyone bugs me about it.
-
I don't have any good suggestions for cancer kids. Most charities want money.
It's just that most Army guys and gals I'm still in touch with aren't poor--enlisted soldiers often make more money than they would on the outside, and they don't spend money on housing or food or medical care. Consequently, Army bases are full of ridiculous cars and video game systems.
The average guys in Iraq and Afghanistan have it shitty, but they do have iPods, laptops, DVDs, etc. Maybe you could donate to them some sort of cloak of not having to be in Iraq anymore?
-
No disrespect to the troops or sick kids or anything, but let's not lose sight of the important thing here: someone has to take pete's Kid 'n Play comics and then review them for the board.
Preferably Grote.
-
I vote Wes! Though it can be a team effort. I'm happy to pay postage to get them circulating.
-
Ok, I went out and bought some big-ass envelopes. Stuff should start going out this week.
if anyone else wants in, now's the time. speak now, or.... I guess speak later, there's no real time limit.
-
You should get flat-rate boxes so you don't have to pay through the nose in postage stamps.
-
I'm going to see how they feel about Media Mail, I think that's probably the cheapest rate for the most comics overall. Flat rate boxes aren't a bad idea, though, I'll check it out.
-
Oooh. I want some. Thank you!
-
Ok, here's the first batch ready to go :

-
Pete, you're a hell of a guy!
-
Ok, I've only had 8 takers so far, and I can send out at LEAST 12-15 more. Anyone that wants in, let me know. Or if you have friends that you're looking to bewilder with an unexpected, unexplained package full of comics, that works too!
-
Pete, you're awesome. I hope I end up with the Kid and Play comics. House Party 2: The Pajama Jam is like a metaphore for how I live my life.
-
I don't think the Kid 'n' Play made it into any of these batches, actually. Someone is going to be delighted with the premiere issue of SuperPro, though!
-
pete, you want to send me a batch, I will be glad to enjoy them
-
Pete, you're a hell of a guy!
You are incredible, Pete.
-
I'm no hero, I'm just a man.... who happens to be a hero.
Dfk - message me your address!
-
Pete, sign me up if there are any left!!!
-
There are TONS left. Send me your address!
-
Is this a US-only offer?
-
Well, it's not US-only in intent, but i feel like international shipping for one of these bricks is going to be pricey. I'll get a quote when I go to the post office and let you know!
-
Please tell me those Kid 'n Play comics got to Grote and Wes.
-
I actually just remembered i have a STACK of older stuff that I would love to clear some space for so if anybody wants some of mine, let ME know too (don't mean to steal your thunder pete!). Just been organizing and going through my colleciton and have a ton to just donate, get rid of, etc. and I would much rather not just toss them away. Anybody wants some more, let me know.
-
The Kid 'n' Play comics are still unshipped. I'll send them to whoever, but neither of those dudes has sent me an address yet!

No need! Just curious.
-
quick update - turns out i have... much less money than i thought I did. These aren't going out until payday next week! on the one hand, my bad. on the other hand, it's free, man you guys expect a lot from me.
-
why is this not in the FOT Barter thread?! im so lazy.
i'll throw you my address, pete. if you have leftovers (comics and money), great. if not, no worries.
-
yeah dude, sure! I sent one off this morning to get a price idea (I think it went to Pastor Josh), and it was a little less than I was worried it might be. I'm going to try to get this first set sent off tomorrow AM.
I'm, uh, pretty new to this board, what's the barter thread?

i was kidding. but really, there is a barter thread that this would work perfectly in: http://www.friendsoftom.com/forum/index.php/topic,4798.0.html

Ok, these all went out today! It was all Media Mail, so it should arrive at some point before the next ice age.
Still PLENTY of free comics for the getting.
-
PETE! You spent too much on this! Would you accept random music in return? Like lots of random music? And turn it into a game, like name that tune? And the ones you don't like, which may be a large percentage, you can just throw away?
-
seriously, it was only like five bucks apiece, i'm happy to do it. i'd accept (but not expect!) anything in return, random music sounds just fine!
-
i love this board.
read: i love the people on this board.
-
Got mine today--thank you so much Mr. Pete.
Are you getting rid of all your comics, or just some?
-
Nope, just most of them. There are some that are worth selling, I'm holding back on those for now. I have 5 longboxes full of comics left and no good reason to keep 90% of them. I love getting singles monthly, but in the long term they're a huge pain. I MUCH prefer trades/HCs.
How nice is Alan Davis's art in those couple issues of FF he did? Real nice.
-
Holy guacamole, Pete! Thanks so much!!! There were some true gems in there.
I don't know if this was intentional, but my Pete lot included a Wizard mag from 2000 featuring none other than your friendly neighborhood Spiderman on the cover.
Here's our boy Buster checking out said issue whilst recovering from ding-dong surgery...

You rock the most, Pete!
-
I can't believe you named your dog B_buster. I included Wizard in a couple packages, then started feeling bad about it, so I recycled about 25-30 of them rather than take up perfectly good space in someone's package. This of course was all pre-Wizard discussion on the show.
Yet another reminder - I still have a LOT of comics up for grabs, for nothing. Anyone else can DM me your address and get something free in the mail.
(I can't believe you named your dog B_buster.)
-
Pete, I got mine today too!!! Thanks so much man. My daughter collects as well, it's our bonding thing and she was elated to see that there was a Pokimon book in our pack. I too got a wizard (the Alex Ross Special) which I'm in no way bummed about because it was free. Got a lot of cool indie books in my pack too. Pete, you're the man and that is no joke.
-
Let me tell you about this guy Pete. Out of the goodness of his heart, he decided to send me free comics but sadly had them returned due to a shipping error. Pete contacted me then, saying they had come back, and I told him "please don't sweat it, it's the thought that counts." For anyone else, that would have been enough to get them off the hook. Was it that way for Pete? Hell no. Pete, in all his infinite glory, instead tried AGAIN to send me the comics, this time succeeding. When they arrived just today, I immediately knocked the postman out with the brick they had formed, and rushed here to say THANK YOU PETE! You are truly one heck of a guy.
PS: I just opened it, and these are not lame comics. These are ALL top notch works! Eightball, Grendel, the list goes on! Wow Pete. THANKS AGAIN!
-
thanks, man! I think the only person waiting now is iAmBaronVonTito, whose went out at the same time as yours, I think.
I'll do another round at some point in the next month. Still lots of stuff to give away.
-
ive been checking my mail every day (which i dont mind; it's a po box i have to walk to so i enjoy a nice walk every day)...nothing yet.
im a patient person.
