If Zach wants to get paid, good for him. I don't think he's dumb enough to get pigeonholed, but I also think he doesn't really give a shit what other people think of him. Regardless, in five years he'll be out on his farm and popping back up only when he wants to.  Go Zach.

Has he not seen Fletch or Ghostbusters or Animal House??

Artistic integrity is all well and good, but the man has to put food on his table right? No one should begrudge him for, as senorcorazon put it, wanting to get paid. An actor can do both quirky projects and Hollywood blockbusters.

If he gets a pile of money from the quirky projects, does he still have to do the Hollywood blockbusters?

Why not do the blockbusters? The Hangover was hilarious and widened his audience - can't be a bad thing, right?

anyone who's turned down an opportunity to observe the spectacle of making a hundred million dollar movie from the inside, while getting paid six figures minimum and being treated like a king can go ahead and look down their nose at somebody for doing a blockbuster movie. It's a life experience like anything else.  Someone's gonna get paid to do it. Might as well be someone cool.

All one has to do is read Mr. Scheer's tale from the set of Piranha 3-D for a great example of why it's not a bad thing.

I saw the Hangover with my mom, and she loved it. She laughed throughout the whole thing.

I just felt like sharing that.

Quite possibly one of my favorite things I have ever seen Zach do.  Dog Bites Man in general.

I should've followed Todd's advice. Anyone quoting the wisdom of Billy Walsh with a straight face deserves a punch in the mouth.

I thought the reference to Billy Walsh was ironic.

i find someone obsessed with policing other people's artistic "purity" by their own standards far more disturbing than someone who would act in a potentially crappy blockbuster for a large paycheck.

if you're talking about getting paid to do something morally reprehensible, yes, that's bad. but nobody's ever been killed or maimed or even put out of work by a movie, no matter how crappy.

So Billy Walsh from 'Entourage' came up with the whole 'suits' thing? I did not know that.

Also, Zach should cash in big time, good for him. I'm not going to hate a guy for making a couple bucks.

Suits probably was ironic, I just don't know anything about this Entourage thing although I watched it once or twice when it was on after the Sopranos.

im late, but ill throw my two cents in:

a number of "alternative" comedians have done their time before ending up in some form of blockbuster hit.  theres nothing wrong with cashing in on your hard work, but no one should be chastised for it.

not to mention, i dont understand what the big deal is??

It's only a big deal if you're a huge snobby snob.

but nobody's ever been killed or maimed or even put out of work by a movie that Werner Herzog wasn't involved with, no matter how crappy.

Fixed.

You'd probably walk out of the theatre or eject the DVD before then, no? Allowing yourself to be bored to death in such a manner would take a huge amount of will, like trying to drown yourself in a bathtub.

I guess I should have qualified my statement, because people have died and been hurt on the sets of movies (crappy and otherwise). But I doubt anyone's been killed by watching a crappy movie.

What if I started yawning and couldn't stop?  My mouth would be open and air would be releasing out of my body, but no new air would be entering it.  Couldn't I suffocate myself?
