Post by: allanalpha on July 09, 2009, 11:17:54 AM
I haven't been this sad in a long time, I buried it by hand.

Condolences. My friend had a cool rabbit named Harry for a couple years, but Harry got sick and passed very suddenly. How long did you have yours?

Sorry to hear about that allan. There are few things worse than losing a pet, but things will get better for you.

I had him a couple years but he was a family member and companion to my son.  His name was Jack Bauer, but I can't smile at that name anymore...  It was a very sudden death, and right in front of me.  Its weird to think the last thing he saw was me.  I had a terrible dream last night where It wouldn't stop raining, and soon the whole earth was flooded, and all I could see were drowned rabbits everywhere.   Another side note, I have used alot of hallucinogenics in my life, and every time, a rabbit crossed my path, so I always just assumed that was my spirit animal as hokey as that sounds.  This is the first pet that I ever broke down over...   I will, of course get over it.

When I was in like 6th grade, I came home to find the runt of a litter of cocker spaniels we were breeding had died. He was the cutest little bugger of the pack, but maybe that's just because I was spent so much time trying to get him back to health from the time he was born until he died. My mom just put him in a box with a little blankie over him afterwards, waiting for me to come home, because she knew I would want to see him. I cried a bit, gave him a kiss (remember being shocked by how cold he was) and then got to go bury him myself in our backyard. It's actually a bit of a nice memory looking back on it now, aside from all the sad stuff associated with it.

Sorry about your rabbit Allan. Too damn many FOT pets passing away lately, don't care for this trend at all...

I thought the title of this thread meant you (or your partner) were pregnant.  It was a shock to learn that its message was in fact literal.

I'm very sorry.

My rabbit Benjamin died earlier this year- I know exactly how you feel. There is something inherently sweet about rabbits. My condolences.

Surely you mean "Death sucks"?

Sarah, I think you of all people would understand the distinction.

Surely I of all people wouldn't.

Well, OK, I don't want to sully Allan's grief thread with minor quibbles and/or my inevitable misreading of the personality of someone I only know online.  So I will say that the loss of any beloved person or creature is a terrible one, and leave it at that.

Though I don't like death of any kind, I tend to find the deaths close to me more "concerning", other than that I tend to be heartless and selfish.  Of course, on the other side, I find it easy to get close to people and animals.  Don't worry about my grief, I handle it in my own way:)
