I humbly (and I mean cringe inducing) submit to the FOT my attempt at incorporating slap bass into pop punk. This was about 20 years ago:

I like it todbot. And slap bass generally just makes me laugh. Nicely done :)

Slap bass on its own is okay.  But combined with too many jazz fills -- that is not good.
