... is almost too funny to be true. It's amazing. Watch Episode#1 here... (http://www.adultswim.com/adultswimfix/index.html?episodeID=8a25c392109799c3011098b245470002)
I don't understand why they get shat on whenever they appear on the Best Show (not by Tom, of course). I'm aware of the crossover between the shows which makes me wonder if there's some sort of inside joke afoot? Or are there really that many haters?
Either way, I think Tim and Eric are brilliant. Consider me POLARIZED!
-
Just not wild about it. It had its funny moments, but it isn't my bag. I'll watch it again see if it is better on the second pass.
-
The only belly laugh I got was the zoom-in on the B'owl's eye in the trash can. I'd watch a whole show of a silent zoom in on a hideously ugly stuffed animal's eye.
If they put that on in According to Jim's slot and called it According to Jim, I bet people would watch with the same vacant looks on their miserable fat faces.
And they say I am an elitist! Ha, sir, I say! Ha!
-
My wife and I were watching Great Awesome Job Show last night and we had tears streaming down our faces. You know when you get that tightness in the back of your head from laughing uncontrollably? That was me. John C. Reilly and the singing burn victim got me.
It was kind of Wonder Showzen-y, but that's fine because it looks like Wonder Showzen is down for the count.
-
I loved the perspective on the mic wires in the opening and closing.
-
It is a bit like Wonder Showzen, but funny and decidely less evil.
-

I was nearly convinced, while listening to Tom's interview of Tim and Eric, that the whole thing was a hoax. I decided by the end of the interview that it was probably for real. I was still somewhat surprised when looking through the TV listings to find out that it's for real. I missed the first episode but am looking forward to it.
-
I have hated all of their radio interviews but I like their tv shows and internet crap pretty well. I guess something just doesnt translate, their schtick (sp?) doesn't seem to work on the radio. But this pilot - I liked maybe 45% of it, particularly the J.C.R. bits.
jfhsdjfhsdfhiuwefhiuwefiuwefhew :-* :-X ;) :( :o :o ;) ;) :D

Episode #2 (http://www.adultswim.com/adultswimfix/)
Rolo Tony Brown Town
Check Yourself
At The Door
Gimme some more
Gimme some more
Gimme some more of your Rolos!
-
doo dah doo doo!
-
I liked most of episode two. Some of it had me dying laughing. The balls thing I didn't like and also the things with the hairy baby. John C. Reilly was fantastic and I liked the Limp Lip thing.
-
As funny as some of the bits can be, there's no "Tom who goes to the Mayor" kind of person to tie the episode together. Sub-Awesome Mr.Show, Fair Job!
-
Slap your face!...
Slap you friend!...
Get sexy kids!...
Doo doo DOO doo
Stinks in here...
Smells like meat!...
Rotten meat!...
So basically T&EASGJ is probably my favorite show or at least one of them. I think I still like TGTTM more, it will always be my number one favorite show.
-
One of my favorite parts of Tom Goes to the Mayor, and glad to see it continuing in Awesome Show Great Job, is the Jan and Wayne Skyler Only Married Regional News Team bits. They know how to pull off hillarity with the slightest expression.
Along with Steve Brule (for your health!) I can't imagine not finding this funny.
-
I've been fluffing this show from the get-go, but THIS WEEK'S (http://www.adultswim.com/adultswimfix/index.html)episode w/ David Cross, Will Forte, and legend-to-be Maria Bamford is by far my favorite. Unbelievably funny.
-
Season two starts tonight...this is my fav promo from the bunch:

Tim & Eric were just interviewed in the Onion AV Club (http://www.avclub.com/content/interview/tim_amp_eric) ("Robin Williams is at the core of what we think is wrong with comedy, and in a lot of ways, entertainment."). Here is a run down of some of the people that will be popping up this season: John C Reilly, Jeff Goldblum, Rainn Wilson, Bob Odenkirk, David Cross, Patton Oswalt, Zach Galifianakis, A.D. Miles, Dave Navarro, Tom Skerritt, Robin Williams, Maria Bamford, Casey and his Brother, Steve Mahanahan, The Beaver Boys, Stephanie Courtney, Richard Dunn, and David Leibe Hart
-
There's also a familiar (misspelled) name in the writing credits, as well.
-
Indeed so.
Also, the first episode of the season is already up on adultswim.com.
-
Who is Raz? Dustin Diamond?
-
My dad said I can sell the poop tube.
-
I love how they've dubbed the words "Poop Tube" in that commercial.
-
Did everybody see this? Space Giants Quicktime (http://timanderic.com/spaceGiants-bb.mov)
It was a piece they did with Eric Fenlser of G.I. Joe PSA fame. I was crying with laughter. It's so well observed.

The recommendations are coming from all the right places but I just can't get into it (although I DO like the Tom Goes to the Mayor shows)
Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job makes me feel like an old man, as in I don't want to understand this younger generation anymore
...same for Wondershozen.
I'd rather go play bingo or assemble a ship in a bottle than watch any more of these.

I can understand not liking T&EASGJ, but not liking Wonder Showzen is absolutely shameful.

True dat.
-
I dunno. I think it's funnier than TGTTM but still a mixed bag. Like f'rinstance I love Dr Steve Brule and Casey and his brother but I "absolutely" despise those Carol sketches. Tom talks about Cristopher Guest hating people, what a mean-spirited sketch. In general they seem to make fun of "odd" people like that puppeteer guy in a really exploitive way. Like the jokes on him but he doesn't realize it. Ugh. I dunno.
-
Seriously, here's a clip from the new series.
How is this funny?

I realize that my not getting it/ no patients for this nonsense attitude might be taken as an achievement by the producers of these shows.
And I in all earnestness wish them as much success as these creations can bring them. But this old geezer doth not laugh.
Gotta keep it real.

Given the choice between some baffling almost-comedy that seems a bit more awkward than flat-out hilarious and some show where '80s pop culture icons have sex and/or die horrible bloody deaths, I choose bafflement every time. (Unless the Venture Bros. count in that latter category.)
-
OK, I've completely lost track of this discussion and I'm vaguely sorry I ressurrected this thread. Can we agree that Space Giants is funny? It seems so universal compared to the show itself.
I'm also going to take a stand and say that I couldn't get past the first season Wonder Showzen because it was redundant and gross. I understand the irony and the child acting was amazing but, it just seemed like easy humor. The puppet interviewing people in the street de-evolved so quickly into "let's harass people," and the whole thing turned into: can you believe we're showing death and racism on Sesame Street? it was a good concept botched by lack of imagination. It was a skit stretched into a series. Were later seasons better/different? I'm willing to revisit it.
Gugh. Now I'm in the midst of a fight.
I guess I'm with you, Stupornaut. Give me character driven fun. Go team Venture.

Some comedy has always been more about audacity than funny (I can't beLIEVE he just said that!) Add non-sequitars into the mix (I wanna MEET that dad) and you create a sort of weird hybrid of comedy and car-wreck-gazing. If I watch 15 minutes of Tim and Eric product, I might laugh a few times, but as they repeat their bits from week to week, my I-can't-believe-they-are-doing-this slowly transitions into how-long-can-they-beat-this-in-the-ground. There are only so many scenarios in which fake vomiting is funny. Schtick is funny, sort of comforting when you're enjoying a personal favorite, but it's not enough.
Of course, this is ALL just my opinion.

Personally, I love Tim and Eric.
but as far as repeating material, you could pretty much say that about all comedy, even Scharpling and Wurster.

A little valentine's day special from Tim & Eric Night Live (http://www.superdeluxe.com/sd/contentDetail.do?id=D81F2344BF5AC7BB5C90FA6055F2E2B7C21B894F1A1886D5).

I wasn't too psyched about Season 3, but god damn if the new "Child Clown" skit isn't about the funniest thing I've seen in a while.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3xJqZxwW-9w
Just the music that plays in the background of the video they cut to is Grammy-worthy.
"Steve Mahanahan's Child Clown Poison Spray."

The first episode of this season was so-so, but the rest have been fantastic.

Yes. With the crowning achievements posted above.
-
I've enjoyed the season thus far (more than the last one), but I absolutely cannot wait for Dr. Steve Brule's spinoff. I have no idea what the format would be, but if it's anything like the recent Griddleman sketch, I'm very excited.
In all honesty, I think as of late, I enjoy the stuff Tim & Eric write and other comedians perform much, much more than the stuff they do themselves. There are exceptions, but not many.
-
I can't stop singing/humming the Patton/tits song. Such a perfect weird little thing that was.
-

Not sure I've seen any of that -- any good examples?

Any and all of Dr. Steve Brule's appearances. Also, the Gravy Robber stuff that Zach G. did is pretty fantastic.

Not a big Steve Brulee fan.

Here's another example.
-
I love their performances.
Also, the cameos are not always hits - Rainn Wilson, I'm looking at you.
-
I don't like this show at ALL
I gave it plenty of chances, I just find it gross and rather satanic (not in a good way).

Trembling Eagle, we may actually be on the same page about this.
-
eeeevil? like satan? really?
I usually think of things like Nancy Grace's show as satanic. To each his own, I guess.
-
The only things that should be described as satanic are rock n roll and Satan.
-
Accepting that T&E are the most divisive thing in comedy today, I'll just say I almost love them as much as our eternal dark lord lucifer and quote Mr. Scharpling who I think said it best, in the form of a recap:
April 12, 2005: Tim & Eric From 'Tom Goes To The Mayor Check In. Some People Get Mad. If You're One Of Them, Fuck You You Don't Deserve Their Show, You Piece Of Shit. Maybe You're Too Fucking Dumb To Get It. And, Listeners Vote Whether Officer Tom Is Hall Of Fame-Worthy.
Other than that, what I need to mention is that I just spotted the guy who plays Kaz on T&EASGJ, playing a japanese energy drink producer on that new I Love NY show.
-
I just find it gross and rather satanic (not in a good way).
Well, nobody can say you didn't understand the show! I completely agree, and in that regard it might be the apotheosis of what Williams Street likes to do. It's uncomfortable to watch sometimes, but for every scene that is completely and totally unwatchable, there's something just stone cold brilliant. I've always thought that no matter what you think of Adult Swim, it must be defended because it's the last bastion of uniqueness and creativity on all of television.

Bravo! to free expression and artistic experimentation.
However, whenever my friends and I unleashed our finely tuned inside jokes on the public, it was seen as adolescent and annoying. Granted we were 14, but I see little difference between ours and T&E.
They stink (me thinks), sorry s(n/l)obs
-
I liked their bit on the Best Show when they were "on the road in Kalamazoo."
Tom Goes to the Mayor is occasionally amusing to me. Great Job is like diamonds hidden in a pile of dirt. Not awful, but it takes too much work to find them. For me.
That said, I have been watching and laughing my ass off to the last 30 seconds of that Jackie Chan thing for two solid days. The way that guy loses his smile is incredible.
-
Yeah, that whole Jackie Chan episode is brilliant.
-
im on an episode of this! im in the classroom scene on season 1. check me out!
-
The acting class one?
-
Some parts aren't that great but there are some episodes I've loved. Plus Dr. Steve Brule is classic.
-

That's how I feel. It's got about the same goodness/time ratio as SNL. If it didn't come at the same time as Human Giant I might have more of a desire for it, but when there is already a perfect weird sketch show on the air a hot and cold weird sketch show seems less worth watching.
I find myself liking Tim a lot more. They both deliver lines like they are reading from cue cards a lot, but for some reason its funny from Tim but annoying from Eric. That could be just me.
-
The acting class one?
thats the one!
