Drew Barrymore's directorial debut is called Whip It!.

Too good/bad to be true?

Perfect title/cast/look. I get Plunko vibes. I will probably love to hate this movie. And kind of hate myself for it.

I am a derby fan and the wife and I help sponsor the Humbolt roller derby down in CA. I really enjoy the folks involved and it is a a fun spectator sport.

I watched this trailer earlier today and I can't say that I am looking forward to seeing it. I will watch it I am sure but I imagine that the derby girls I know will not want to have anything to do with this. I like that derby is getting attention but I REALLY hope this doesn't suck as much as I think it will.

I have several friends in Houston roller derby, and they are badass.  Just sayin'.

I don't think it will be good (the cliched Dead Poet's Roller Derby its wrapped up in virtually guarantees it), but it may have excellent moments. Don't go if you're expecting Ran. If a group of pals throw it on for a lark, take the cork out of your butt and go with it.
