First, I'm REALLY sorry for a THIRD thread about Rock Band.
But come on, this is ridiculously cool:

Awesome video.
It's amazing how much video game technology has advanced over the span of 20 years.

Set list revealed. Alarmingly low on Revolver, but the inclusion of Hey Bulldog and Good Morning Good Morning helps.

Supposedly, the last song on the list will be The End, but that hasn't been confirmed. The entire Abbey Road medley will be playable as one really long track, though.

I'm disappointed by the exclusion of their most underrated song, Old Brown Shoe.
-
They are providing downloadable content. I'd love it if they offered the ability to get the entire Past Masters 2 album, but they'll probably release it in little bits and pieces. I'm sure Old Brown Shoe is coming.
The most interesting part of the downloadable songs is that they've said they're going to do Sgt. Pepper. I'm curious to know how they would possibly interpret She's Leaving Home to be played with a plastic guitar. Not curious enough to buy it, of course.
-
No sitar songs? Weak.
"It's All Too Much" would've been a great choice.
-
This is easily going to be my favorite game in a long long time, if not ever.
-
Guitar Hero / Rock Band
is fun for one night with your friends
then it sucks
but playing "I'm looking through you" sounds awesome.

BS. I've been playing Rock Band for over a year now and I love it! You must not be very good at it ;)

When is the Hoagiefest edition coming out?
-
I'm boycotting this game if they snub You Know My Name, Look Up the Number.
-
I won't snub, but I may scoff for a moment.
-
I've heard that every album will sooner or later be available as downloadable content with Abbey Road being available on day one. I don't know how that's going to work for a couple songs, but I hope that's true.
-
The cinematic trailer for this game. One of the best trailers I've ever seen for any media whatsoever.

-
It happened again. Third trailer is even better than anything else we've seen. Helter Skelter looks like it will be all kinds of awesome, and the While My Guitar Gently Weeps video is a dark mirror of Here Comes The Sun, which is a really inspired choice.

Gilly, I don't think EVERY track is promised to be available, but I know that their contract is open-ended, so I imagine it could be. I know that the Apple Corps shareholders have said they really like the fact that the game offers a really deep connection with each song (as opposed to, say, an iPod shuffle), so it's definitely possible they'll just let them keep offering as many as they want.
-
I saw the video of Sgt. Pepper for the first time on VH1 this morning...was confused and remained so until I got home and read this thread.
-
I really love how well put together this is, which is unsurprising for Harmonix. I just really wish it was integrated with normal Rock Band, I don't want to have to swap out when we feel like playing some Beatles. Not a dealbreaker (", ladies!"), though.
-
Paul McCartney had footage of the game backing him when I saw him in concert. It was fantastic.

I can't believe they don't have "She Said She Said"... that would of been amazing on drums. Also, what about "Rain"?

-
why can't they make this so it hooks up to a real keyboard or guitar?
be an awesome teaching tool
-
Well, for drummers or singers it can definitely serve as a teaching tool. I mean, I'm not even sure there's ANYTHING that can serve as good of a harmony teaching tool as the harmony trainer that uses a synthesizer to demonstrate the selected harmony part. And while you won't learn how to use a full kit, you learn enough drum patterns and rhythms to get the fundamentals down.
I think they're getting people to make video guitar lessons for their website, and I'm sure they have people regularly thinking of a way to make the guitar more realistic. They'll probably get a real guitar to plug in and play the notes before they could improve the plastic one. Even then, though, it'd be sort of limiting. It can measure pitch, but it can't measure where your fingers are.

Is it wrong that I sold a couple Beatles records to be able to come up with the cash to buy this game?

depends. please disclose which albums and i'll set up a help! panel to determine the definition of "wrong".

Revolver and Sgt. Peppers, both US Stereo? I still have the mono Ebbetts versions on CD which is all I really listen to anyway, the one time where I prefer CD to vinyl. I figured it was worth it to get this.

i would say sgt. pepper, yes; revolver, a toss up. you win this time, Gilly.
-
I prefer the mono version of Rock Band.
-
According to Wikipedia, the remaining tracks from Abbey Road will be available in October, Sgt. Peppers in November and Rubber Soul in December. So, it looks like everything will be made available over time.
-
I prefer the mono version of Rock Band.
I have an acetate disc of Rock Band.

I prefer the mono version of Rock Band.
is that where you're just really fatigued for an entire month so you play rock band all day?
-
i saw the commercial for beatles rock band this morning, where everyone is walking across abbey road and it makes me feel so good seeing the beatles all in one place and everyone is smiling and laughing that i want to go out and buy a gaming console strictly so i can also owns this game.
-
I prefer the H1N1 version of Rock Band.

Yeah, but the only song you can play on that one is "Piggies".

So I played the demo version of this yesterday at GameStop and it was...kind of incredible? The graphics are nuts, the gameplay is really smooth for Harmonix, and the window of accuracy for hitting notes is a bit larger. (It's my only complaint about Rock Band. Guitar Hero has much better peripherals.)

The CGI John Lennon at the end of this is creepy, but my excitement to play this game remains strong.
-
The CGI John Lennon at the end of this is creepy
They should've had him walk around with a CGI sanitary napkin on his head.
-

this is why i will play guitar hero with friends and usually play anything BUT the guitar in rock band. so frustrating.
-
No sitar songs? Weak.
"It's All Too Much" would've been a great choice.
A plastic sitar would have ruled.
Also a plastic harpsichord and the inclusion of 'Piggies', or a plastic Tuba and the inclusion of 'Martha My Dear'
And when RockStar Beachboys comes out, there better be a plastic theremin.
-

That's the funniest thing I've read all day.

whats the second funniest
-

Actually, "Within You Without You" is included, so there is some sitar...
-
Picking it up tonight, cannot wait to play this.
On a side note, it was said somewhere that apparently Sun King /Mean Mr. Mustard are bound as one playable track, as are Polythene Pam / She Came In Through The Bathroom Window. Ignoring the weirdness of always playing Mean Mr. Mustard immediately after Sun King... Is it just me, or did Polythene Pam / She Came In Through The Bathroom Window just preemptively become the most fun song to play in the entire game?
-
So far I've had more fun watching the game rather than playing it, just because the visuals are so great.
I'm not dogging on the gameplay though, because it's well done too.
-
It's a great game, I just wish there would have been DLC on day 1 other than All You Need Is Love. I was really looking forward to playing a whole album. The story mode is kind of weak but it's still a lot of fun playing all of the songs. The real fun is going to come when those downloadable songs start rolling out... I don't understand why they need to wait a month to release them.
-
If I had to guess as to why DLC is delayed and sporadit, I'd say it is probably because unlike the normal stuff, they actually have to render new animations for each song. The delay part of that is lame, but it will hopefully be great once it comes out.
-
It definitely will be. Can't wait to play Rubber Soul and Help! in full. I'm assuming they keep the Abbey Road side 2 in tact without splitting it up. I know the greed will be tempting, but they can't break it up, can they?
-
Well, they are in a sense. I know that Sun King and Mean Mr. Mustard are one track and Polythene Pam/Bathroom Window are one track. Not sure about Golden Slumbers and Carry That Weight, but it might make sense.
However, if you buy Abbey Road as an album and not just individual tracks, you get to play the medley complete which I'm guessing will be its own track. If you have a Wii, it remains to be seen how this will work, since Wii users currently can only buy individual tracks in the Rock Band music store.
-
I got this the other day. Played through all of story with a full band from 11 PM to about 3 AM. I gotta say, going from that to Rock Band 2, I just enjoy The Beatles Rock Band more since it is so much more than just rock band with the dreamscapes and not being a random avatar. I know that kind of doesn't sound like it should make a difference but watching The band go from Abbey Road Studios to a dreamscape as Sgt. Pepper's singing and then the words to the harmonies forming in clouds...it's just a sight to behold.
And I truly cannot wait for more DLC and full album playthroughs. What a solid, solid game.

I'm thinking of buying it after seeing this, the little extension at the end (which isn't on the album) is really, really cool.
