this is for you, pastor josh.
- @richardmoll followed me on twitter today
- I'm about to head up to work at a summer camp in Upstate NY for a week, and it is going to be awesome.
- it rained like a bastard here in Richmond for a solid hour today and is now BEAUTIFUL outside.
- I left work at noon because I told my boss I needed to fix my kitchen sink. It was true, but took me 15 minutes and I've been "working from home" ever since.
- I caught my dogs cuddling earlier.
- I got my premium pack last week and am still making my way through all the badass stuff I got for money I would have donated anyway! suckers!

He followed me too! I was very pleased about that, although much like here I barely post anything.
-
I was not at ALL surprised to find out he was a class act.

Excellent, and the inadvertent crotch contact with his bodyguard is a deserved bonus!
-
One day I'll do something right.
-
-I was pretty seriously bummed out for a few months and now I'm not
-I got a cheap gym membership and a new/used bike and am actually using both
-I'm a couple steps away from buying or leasing a Mini Cooper
-I just got a gig writing a play for an installation artist, and it's going up at The Toronto Museum and Mass MoCA
-The hellish movie I was working on can no longer afford me and so we have parted ways (hellish in as far as my experience working on it; the guys making it are decent human beings and I really wish them success)
-I'm back on the air on WFMU Mondays at 5, and my co-host Karinne and I just got into this thing called The Conflux Festival, taking place at NYU, and we're making an audio art piece for it
-I think I have a film manager now
-I'm going out to Chicago next week for a production of 1001 and just found out that a theater in Santa Fe is doing another play of mine, Maria/Stuart
-I just saw that Rifftrax (f.k.a. MST3K) Plan 9 From Outer Space live thing and it was hilarious
-
I'm writing a book. I am re-reading the 190 single-spaced pages I've written so far and I actually like what I have. I also look forward to seeing what happens next.
I may get a glimpse of Obama on Martha's Vineyard next week.
I love weird weather and the clouds getting stirred up today by Hurricane Bill are just glorious.
I have to give a talk at a conference on Monday and I am going to kick a lot of ass.
-
-i went to a show thursday nite and ran into so many people that i didnt know were going to be there. i felt popular.
-also, asked aforementioned people if they would go to a going away party for me; they all seemed excited for a party.
-went to karaoke bowling where the power was out; we all had a good laugh in a building with no air conditioning, yet all the games had power, but none of them worked.
-moved over to karaoke at charley's place and had a blast with another group of friends (also excited for said going away party).
oh, monday, please bring a week better than last week. starting with:
-putting photos together for sale. now if only people will buy them....
-finishing up essays for a self-publishing project.
-
Lots of things are great for me. The best thing going on right now? The really funny, really kind, really interesting people I now consider (online) friends because of the Best Show.

i second this, because even the FOTs ive met in person, i would consider friends. ive never met a more stand up group of people- honestly.
-
...really funny, really kind, really interesting...
I'm flattered, Josh.

Flattery is not intended, but your presence on the board, the chat, and the twittery is a large part of what I'm talking about.

-Yesterday my dog got loose somehow and was about to fight another dog (my dog's fairly young, and the other was fairly large). I broke up the fight and got him to safety. I have some punctures in my arm but my dog is fine (and so is his opponent), and that to me is pretty great.
-Like Jon I've been writing, and as I forget about what I write and go back and read some of it I'm mostly pleased with it. I can't imagine it's very good, but I can see that I've gotten a lot better over time, and that feels good.

You could use sulfur.

- With each thing I plan for this fall that requires money (record fair), I end up having to reconsider due to school costs. The good thing comes in that with each financial shudder, a one-time job (such as babysitting etc) is offered and I get a little extra to put toward schoolbooks. Weirdly enough, I think things will continue to keep the balance that way.
- I have been longing for a bike all summer, and a friend found out and gave me a bike. They gave me a bike!
Apparently someone came into their workplace and said "Here's a bike, give it to someone who needs it." So I was the grateful recipient. I wrecked nastily on it last week, but no broken bones!
- I just found out that a nice person I recently met will not only be in one of my smaller classes, but will be working in the same work-study job as me. Yay for new friends!
- And a friend of mine has offered me the use of his cable for viewing Project Runway since I don't get Lifetime!
-
Nothing in particular. But when something great happens it will be announced on my Twitter page.
-
Not a goddamn thing.
-
Two great things are happening to me today:
1.) My ladyfriend is going to prepapre me a delicious meal when I get home from work.
2.) I plan on listening to Time Bomb High School by The Reigning Sound today at work. Like, shortly.
Does it get any better, friends? I submit that it does not.
Martin and TRG, a thought: if you're experiencing a dearth of greatness, it's always possible that The Reigning Sound can help in some small way.

this is true for me.

THIS is what is amazing about people:

Seriously--we can photograph a fucking molecule, and you doubt we can fix health care? Humans are amazing!

- My wife and I just moved into our house, with a big back yard for our dog Buster (who we sometimes refer to as B_buster. We didn't make the connection until Pete brought it to our attention here: http://www.friendsoftom.com/forum/index.php/topic,5554.msg122293.html#msg122293 (http://www.friendsoftom.com/forum/index.php/topic,5554.msg122293.html#msg122293) ) > Scroll up one for a pic of Buster reading Wizard.
- Speaking of Pete, he sent me (and some of you) a big ole mess of comics last month. Highlight of the summer, for sure.
- I finally got up to speed on Twitter (@hangbrainblog) and am following a good number of you guys and, after having done so, I gotta say you're much cooler and nicer than most of the people I know in "real life." Those guys are kinda dicks.
- Three words: Batman: Arkham Asylum
- My in-laws got us a nice Weber grill as a housewarming gift. So any and all FOTs that find themselves in the greater Dallas-Fort Worth area (most likely involuntarily) are more than welcome to come by for a cook out. We can stand in the alley and drink beer, King of the Hill-style.
-
i'll be driving through dallas/forth worth on my way to memphis...with no time for cooking out. oh, life, why are you so merciless?

Very true. And I'd also like to thank @glands for the very generous donation of a midget wrestlind VHS tape to my ministry. All part of what makes you so awesome.

We're not too far from the intersection of US-75 & I-635 (the first five-level stack interchange in the country). If you happened to take it, honk as you drive by and I'll fling a steak in your direction.

I'm on vacation in Aruba* with my "Newbridge is for Lovers" shirt. With all the Jersey/NY accents floating around, I keep expecting to see the same shirt on someone else.
I like this thread.
*not bragging, and no, no Lewis Black sightings yet

I've been making smoothies for breakfast using nonfat organic lemon yogurt, strawberries that we picked ourselves (frozen), and soy milk. It's pretty great.
-
- i finally found meaningful work that i love
- there is a very pretty girl in my life who i like a lot and who i think likes me (hope i don't blow it!)
- i'm feeling very healthy and creative
-
way to go, Thomas!

GOOD FOR A.M. Thomas

My cherry tomato plant is producing more than I can eat. The local slug population is very happy.
Also, I got a job.
-
Congrats, Stan. I hope it's a decent one.

It is- I'm doing maintenance on this 3000 gallon behemoth at a veterinary hospital (as well as another big honking tank):

That sounds way, way better than working in someone else's retail establishment. I am happy for you. Though jealous of your cherry tomatoes.

EDIT: Too negative.

- Just took a week off my stupid grownup job and spent it working as a counselor at a summer camp in upstate NY with some of my best friends in the world. World's best possible job.
- Spent the afternoon hanging out drinking beers around a pool.
- Had a minor existential crisis on the plane ride home from upstate NY, which led to a renewed zest for life.
- Came back to a full week's worth of Season 3 Simpsons on the TiVo.
- One of my dogs was running and whining in her sleep last night.
-
My 2yo son asked me today if I wanted some juice, I said sure, he went to the fridge and came back with a beer, handed it to me and said "That daddy's juice". I couldn't help but laugh.
-
I've written 3 successful grant proposals this year:
1) money to buy $1000 worth of water filtration straws for kids in South Africa
2) money to buy $2000 worth of tools for a high school shop class that builds sets for their theater Dept in an extremely low income portion of OKC
3) $25k worth of professional services from Ad Club in OKC to create a logo/promotional campaign for a service club I'm in.
On my way to shoot a commercial for the clubs fundraiser and had to brag a little.
Now, back to my usual self-loathing....
-
way to go, Andy!
