Title: The Last Call at the Spectrum
Post by: chris v on September 17, 2009, 02:38:49 PM
The bill for one of the last shows at the beloved Spectrum is sporting the following lineup: Todd Rundgren, Hall & Oates and The Hooters.

Sounds a little bit too perfect. They're giving away BRICKS at this show! This has to be an elaborate sting operation by the police of Philadelphila to finally get Philly Boy Roy off the streets, right?

Giving away bricks to a concert full of drunk Philadelphians sounds like a great idea.

I was trying to read this thread to my wife and had to stop several time because I was laughing too hard.  This is so perfect.  This explains why PBR has been so quiet since being elected mayor.  He's been waiting in line for tickets to this.

They're giving away bricks? What the hell kind of "giveaway" is that?

That being said, I've always wanted to throw a brick at Todd Rundgren.

You think 'nem security guards at the Spectrum would let me take a personal pony keg into the show with me?

Truth to be told, i might seriously consider going to this event if I wasn't 3000 miles away. Despite (or maybe because of) the irredeemable goofiness of these three musical acts, I do have some affection for their tunesmithery.  (Okay, maybe a little less so in the case of the Hooters).

Yeah, that's right. I said "tunesmitherey".

Imagine the level of crowd anger if Rundgren omits the slap bass version of "Bang the Drum All Day" from his setlist.

I would love to see Todd Rundgren but I don't think that is the venue or the atmosphere that I'd choose to see him for the first time...

I'm still mad about the Ashford & Simpson snub.

Wait...whuuuuuuut?!   Nem bricks are the ultimate Philly tchotkes - they're consecrated with the blood & sweat of the Broad Street Bullies
