Title: frisky dingo
Post by: cutout on October 21, 2009, 03:43:43 AM
Never watched it when it came out a few years back, but man I'm addicted to the the DVDs. They pack in a lot of good jokes in 15 minute episodes. Anyone else a fan?

Speaking of 2006, what's this Dream Girls thing everyone's talking about? Did you hear Lindsey Lohan got a DUI, etc

It's over, cancelled in equal part by Adult Swim and co-creator Adam Reed, who left with many of the artists to do his new series Archer for FX, airing early next year. The pilot was shown a couple weeks ago after It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, it was PRETTY awesome. Think Xander Cruise, but played by Jon Benjamin and a spy instead of a superhero.

As you can tell, I was a big fan of Frisky Dingo. It rather boldly threw aside a lot of the irony they always used to excuse away the craziness on Sealab 2021. But still had the same bits of real-life conversational humor that were always the real highlights.

Dang it, another show I"ve missed. I've been meaning to get around to this one, I always heard it was good...

Frisky Dingo was great. Full of extremely odd (and, at times, super dark) humor.

This is the first I'm hearing of this Jon Benjamin spy show, and am now extremely excited.

Love it.  Sad that it's no longer repeating on Adult Swim.

It's like Family Guy without the pop culture cut away gags. I'll take a pass.

It's awesome and has a great plot. I'm watching the whole thing for the fourth time now with some friends who didn't see it.

(It is nothing like family guy. I don't even get where that's coming from.)

I'm pretty sure there are quite a few episodes streaming on the adultswim website.

I don't get that comparison at all.

Yeah I find it incredibly dry, subtle and plot-centric. Kind of the opposite of Family Guy.

It IS like Family Guy in that it's like the good moments of Family Guy that aren't offensive or cheap, which isn't really a detraction.

(How much Family Guy is actually in Family Guy? Five minutes per episode? {The rest is all cutaways.} {{brackets are the parenthesis of parenthetical statements}} It's like that in terms of sensibility. I'd have to go watch both to point to it, but it might have something to do with it's meta-quality and it's insertion of having real life moments in unreal situations)
