Almost a 2 hour interview. I haven't heard it yet.

It's very good. You can hear Tom laughing in the background too, I think. I was really surprised how funny his show was - I've started listening to the back episodes.
-
I was in the background! It was fun and Kevin Pollak is a nice dude who will maybe/hopefully end up on The Best Show at some point.
Tom.
-
I enjoyed it! And yeah, at once point Pollak says that he's got "roped into" appearing on the Best Show at some point, I think.
-
Yeah, he got 'roped into it' if getting roped into it means asking me to come on my show.
Tom.
-
Yikes; I thought this topic was going to be erotic fan-fic.
-
You have a filthy mind.
And that was a good interview.
-
Yeah, he got 'roped into it' if getting roped into it means asking me to come on my show.
Tom.
OMG Tom-does this mean you guys are going to have Pollak as Albert Brooks and you as Super Dave Osborne? Please?
Alternately, can you do Peter Falk? Cause then you can recreate In-Laws scenes w/him doing the Alan Arkin bits.
Scratch that, I just remembered you do Arkin too: Battling Alan Arkins.
-

Tom.
I figured as much.

I enjoyed Dorvid's question, which didn't get a complete answer, alas.

I love how Kevin Pollak interpreted my 2 tweets the hour before the show started as a "barrage" of information from a person "desperate" to participate in the show. "One after the other", he said.
Uh, yeah. Two Tweets, which I guess did technically get sent one after the other. One promoting your show and the other asking a question of your guest.
Way to invite participation and then make me look crazy for participating, KEVIN. (stares in to camera for 30 seconds)

The PFT interview was great and I have now been watching some of the others. The Hubel/Scheer and Izzard ones are really good as well.
Tom, I think Kevin would be great on your show. Looking forward to it.

That's really funny. Kevin is pretty fired up about the social mediums.

What is Samm Levine's connection to this show? Did I miss it in the episode? Is he a producer? I'm confused...

I believe his job is to occasionally tell a boring story and clunk things up.
I said it.

First time I've heard of this show, PFT...awesome. Now watching Dana Carvey, also awesome. Is this just for the web or public tv?! Good stuff. TS should be a guest!
-
Will I be missing a lot if I go with the audio-only version?
-
It's just two people sitting at a table, Charlie Rose style, then occasionally one of the geeky kids from Freaks and Geeks will say something and the camera will go to him.
I don't think you're missing much with audio only.
-
I watched (listened) to the Jason Lee one yesterday and really liked it. I had zero clue about his pre-acting days as a pro skateboarder.
Weird Al on Sunday. That should be an interesting one as well.
-
I listened to the Am I Right!? interview of Weird Al. Charming dude.
-
BIG thumbs up on the Dana Carvey interview.
-
His show is probably the best example of a well known figure in his own right doing a great interview podcast. Pollak is funny and a good host, but the best thing is that he actually prepares for the show and doesn't make interviews about himself like an Adam Carolla.
-
I'm really glad PFT did this show because otherwise I either wouldn't have found out about it or wouldn't have given it a fair shake. Although I've never seen Pollak's standup, I have generally found him to be a funny guy (his Albert Brooks impression is AMAZING). However, Pollak the dramatic actor I've had more trouble with, especially his performance as a tough-guy bank robber in Usual Suspects, which I consider to be both the only blemish on an otherwise perfect movie and the second-worst case of miscasting in movie history (first being John Wayne playing Genghis Khan in The Conqueror).
The show is terrific, though. Pollak is a great host and a great interviewer, and as others have pointed out, it's great to see that he's done his homework. I've only listened to two or three episodes so far but I have a bunch of others waiting to go. The Eddie Izzard episode was very entertaining for a number of reasons. He claims to be very uncomfortable about receiving compliments, and Pollak was so effusive with his praise that I started wondering if Pollak was messing with him.
Side question: Izzard seems to be rather unpopular with comedy nerds, especially alternative comedy fans. Has this always been the case, or has there been a recent turn against him?
