Everyone's favorite website has apparently been hacked. Some ninth-rate David Lightman (http://blogs.amctv.com/scifi-scanner/wargames560.jpg) infected it with some sort of malware that may be harmful to the computers that access it. In the coming days co-founder x amount will be looking into this hideousness in an attempt to eradicate the destructive whatevers. I'd piss on a spark plug if I thought it'd do any good.
While there is no evidence that any published content has been compromised, who knows what the restoration process might entail. As Simon Cowell once said, perhaps Recidivism will have to be ripped up in order to start again.
If you have any tips/information about who did this, please contact Nancy Grace or Jane Velez-Mitchell over at HLN.

That sucks. Recapping is even more of a brutal racket than I thought. Fortunately, the culprit has likely posted a detailed summary of his crime somewhere, complete with embedded youtube clips and bonus Polvo mp3s.

I bet you're running Wordpress.

That sucks. I hope every little thing on there can be saved.

Sounds like someone just volunteered to be sys-admin!

I'd rather rip my eyes out, but this is good advice:

I've heard tale of Wordpress-based hackings. In this case it is MovableType.

Whatever shall we do? Wherever shall we go?

And this on the day GeoCities dies.

This has happened to me before and I know the feeling. I hope for a speedy recovery.
Meanwhile, there's this archive.org snapshot:

Do you just waltz in nonchalantly ignoring the warning, Brave Sir Buffcoat?

x amount is working on it, and there appears to be hope in a restoration sans significant distress/damage. I believe the worst-case scenario would be an extensive manual effort to clean/restore the site rather than any actual lost content. A malicious thingie was appended to the code of some thing on various pages and such. The person who did this is the lowest form of filth, and I will hunt them down like Liam Nissan in Taken.

Mostly, my dear FR IXX.

As a FOT and a fan, this angers me. As someone with an MT blog, it also terrfies me.

This sounds like me in half of the meetings I attend for work.

UPDATE:
In the past couple of months various malware issues/warnings began to resurface, indicating that the initial cleansing (cleared by Google as legit) was insufficient. About a week ago, I decided to post about it in a thread on the badwarebusters.org forum. (Not to be confused with the badseedb_busters.org forum.) Some of the responses indicated that the same malscript was still present on hundreds of pages, mostly in the /images portion of the site.
A gentleman from WeWatchYourWebsite responded with some good tips on how to clean it out en masse, but he also offered to do a full cleaning himself if I provided FTP access. The fee for the services was posting an update in the forum thread to tout the hopefully positive results. As it turns out, this guy is clearly some kind of hero/saint. Within 24 hours, he downloaded the entire site, including 10 gb of /music files, did a full backup that he would provide if something went wrong, and then cleaned out any malscripts found anywhere on the entire site. He e-mailed me hourly with updates on his progress.
When thanking him for his efforts, he said it was "all in a day's work" and thanked me for the "opportunity." He is a crusader for good in an increasingly dreary world.
If anyone ever has issues with a hacked site, contact these wizards ASAP.

Happy to hear it, Omar.

It appears that some cretten(s) have launched another attack on Recidivism. I am working quickly to eliminate the problems and hope to clear out this disgusting filth in the next few days. The cleaning will be celebrated with a full recap of the 5/25/10 3rd Annual Best Show Awards show. I've been writing a few words a day for the past five months.

Better carefully honed than rushed.
I don't want to wait.
