Hey Mike,
I thought you might like this: http://www.cbc.ca/writersandcompany/audio.html (http://www.cbc.ca/writersandcompany/audio.html). Scroll down to the seventh interview. It's also available on the Writers and Company podcast in iTunes.

That's a good one, crumbum. Someone else had already tipped me to it. Thanks for this link to the Philip Roth interview.

Did you hear him on Bob Edwards?

Misplaced a post in Dear Tom about Herzog's interview on NPR this morning. Priceless stuff (both the interview and my lack of attention to detail whilst posting on a message board).

Was that his interview on The Treatment with Elvis Mitchell?

Which was as decent an interview as one can expect from Mitchell these days. A minimum of "What I find fascinating is...". I enjoyed it.

When I listen to The Treatment I always try to guess what hidden theme Elvis will suggest links together all the works of the interviewee. It usually turns out to be something vague enough that it could be applied to almost any work of drama.

There's a nice extract from BBC Film critic Mark Kermode's new book online today, and it's about the time he interviewed Herzog. During the interview, Herzog got shot in the trousers.

Mike, are you familiar with this lesser-known Herzog work?

Perhaps someone has already tipped the group off, but this is a "first person" account of the Werner Herzog Film School. Kid claimed he snuck into the class repeatedly. The last four paragraphs of this long essay are the meat of what Werner "taught."
