Title: Jon Stewart steals the GOMP
Post by: PatrickChew on February 27, 2007, 04:03:39 PM
Amongst talk of microfinancing and the Nobel Peace Prize, there's a big ol' GOMP

God I love it when I hear Scharpling-isms in a different context.
I overheard a teenaged couple arguing in front of my house a few weeks ago.
It was only half-audible until she peeled out of the parking lot and he ripped off a perfect booming, "How dare you!" that awoke half of the neighborhood.

They both sounded really heartbroken, but I couldn't stop giggling.

Netflix is using the bed music that the old old old TBS intro used to use in a series of ads. It always grabs my attention.

I saw that!  And it was justified, too - who wants to talk to a Norwegian?

Simon Cowell is apparently trying to rip Tom off as well, with mixed results:

Haha! Although his GOMP isnt as GOMPy as Tom's is.

I've been using the "I don't like it.... I LOVE IT!" in my English classes when my students do something good or show me something. I doubt the kids really understand it (the're elementary school kids in Japan) but it makes me happy.
