Title: Superchunk Documentary On Pitchfork
Post by: LesSavyFan on December 11, 2009, 04:38:31 PM
Hopefully this hasn't been mentioned but Pitchfork is showing a hour long Superchunk tour diary documentary called Superchunk: Quest For Sleep all week long streaming free on their website. The drummer seems like a pretty funny dude. ;)

This sounds highly entertaining, though I may have to wait until it shows up via Shovel.com's videotape of the month club.

Best part is in the beginning, where Wurster is on stage talking into a mic with a ton of echo and he says, "It's too dry."

Hmm. Probably something you have to see & hear to appreciate.

It strikes me now that I've never really heard any Superchunk.  At the risk of hijacking this thread, can you guys recommend a good place to start?

I'd probably start with Here's Where the Strings Come In or On the Mouth

That was fast! You quoted that before I edited in the italics. Great album though. Front-to-back goodness. "Keeping Track" is one of my favorite songs.

They're good, but as Chapel Hill bands go, they're no "Teasing the Korean," which later became "What Peggy Wants."*

*I have never heard anything by this band.  I could have said Zen Frisbee or Dillon Fence.

Omar, you know my college roommate was in Joby's Opinion, right?  He's the guy who introduced me to "Rock, Rot and Rule."
